The Role

Chewy is currently recruiting for an Associate Director Procurment at our headquarters in Dania Beach, FL, Seattle, WA, or Boston, MA. This role will support the Chewy Health business, working with procurement professionals to handle the flow of non-inventory goods including warehouse supplies, office supplies, corrugate, safety equipment, tools, medical equipment and services, and material handling requests. This role requires scoping and creating project plans, developing processes, coordinating and propelling execution, and communicating to senior management on status, risks, and process/product changes. In addition to creating and implementing processes and procedures regarding procurement, this is an opportunity to make an immediate and lasting impact on our fast-growing company. You should be prepared to deal with a high degree of ambiguity and scale with the company.

  • Partner with a team of Procurement Operations professionals with responsibilities across multiple buildings and ensure network-wide standardization for all procurement-related processes.
  • Work in conjunction with cross-functional teams to select new products, identify strategic business partners, and optimize the supplier base.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal business partners, building a robust understanding of strategic business direction, requirements, and priorities across assigned suppliers and/or spend categories.
  • Develop network sourcing strategies to deliver against business objectives for internal clients.
  • Evaluate supplier strengths and driven positioning using industry cost models and benchmarking analysis; leverage key insights to inform and support the category strategy development process.
  • Handle the fundamentals of sourcing and supplier engagement activities including RFPs, spend pattern analysis, contract analysis, bid evaluation, negotiations, and supplier consolidation.
  • Work with business and finance leaders to identify and drive savings and controllership improvements, focusing on the total cost of ownership.
  • Provide guidance to internal partners on procurement strategies, maintaining procurement ethics.
  • Prepare and hold business reviews with partners to review vendor performance, future opportunities, and/or challenges.
  • Lead strategic sourcing engagements across a wide range of business units to enable operational support and scalability.
  • Maintain high-level supplier communications, including forecasts.
  • Continuously evaluate existing processes, supplies, equipment, and services, and propose improved solutions where applicable.

:

  • BA or BS required; MBA preferred. Procurement certifications are a plus (e.g., CSPM, APP, ISM, IPMM or MCIPS).
  • 7+ years’ experience in strategic sourcing and developing category strategies.
  • Ability and experience handling contracts across departments.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with both internal and external partners.
  • Strong working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated experience obtaining the highest value during negotiations for corporate purchases is desired. You must have hard-core negotiating skills!
  • Experience in purchasing and contract renewal negotiations.
  • Intermediate to advanced level Excel proficiency.
  • Strong analytical skills and detail orientation.
  • Lean / Continuous Improvement and Organizational Change experience.
  • Proven track record to work in a team environment.
