About the role
We are currently recruiting for a Procurement Manager to service our stakeholders’ business needs by leveraging, optimising and implementing innovative commercial procurement solutions across the UK.
Reporting to the Head of Procurement – North Europe, the Procurement Operations Manager – UK is responsible for leading Procurement services across DS Smith’s UK business. Key stakeholders are across the group and all divisions. This individual will be responsible for leading the team to implement category strategies and spend consolidation efforts and capture local cost savings where applicable. And ensure the purchase to pay process happens in a timely manner in order to support our stakeholders.
This role will also be a collaborative member of the North Europe regional team in partnership with other team members across the region and be a key Procurement Business Partner for the UK Packaging business.
The Group Procurement Function is accountable for:

Shaping and aligning the Procurement strategy to support the achievement of business goals including growth, innovation, ESG (inc Scope 3) and manufacturing excellence •

Partnering with stakeholders to ensuring the function competitively sources quality products and supplier services whilst maintaining and building strong relationships with strategic suppliers in line with group Innovation, ESG and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion goals •

Partnering differently across the value chain to create innovative business offerings that delight our customers and support business growth
Key accountabilities
Responsibilities include (but not limited):

Negotiating and managing a portfolio of contracts

Tendering and sourcing projects to support the UK business

Risk management

Procure to Pay Collaboration with our shared services team

Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and Supplier Performance Management (SPM)

Ensuring suppliers meet our Global Supplier Standards
About you

Track record of exceptional value delivery

Exceptional stakeholder management & business acumen

Excellent communication, influencing & negotiation skills
-
Degree level or equivalent by experience. Bachelor's degree or procurement qualification such as CIPS
-
Deep knowledge and experience in procurement and leading high performance teams. Over 5 years’ experience

Experience in developing and successfully implementing 1–3-year regional procurement strategies
-
Extensive experience in implementing and managing a range of complex procurement sourcing and contracting negotiations
-
Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience of senior leadership roles in Procurement
-
Experience of leading procurement in a matrix environment

Ability to concurrently manage and coordinate multiple projects and contracts

Project management, analytical and strategic thinking skills
