PROCUREMENT EXPEDITOR
JOB DESCRIPTION
Procurement Expeditor
Purpose
Ensure timely delivery and visibility of all purchase orders by actively tracking, expediting, and coordinating material orders from suppliers through delivery. This role serves as the central point of communication between procurement, suppliers, warehouses, and field teams to prevent delays, resolve issues, and maintain project continuity.
Core Functions
Order Tracking & Expediting
Monitor all open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery. Proactively follow up with suppliers on order status, lead times, and shipment updates. Identify potential delays early and drive resolution to maintain project schedules.
Supplier Communication & Coordination
Act as the primary point of contact for order status with suppliers. Confirm order acknowledgements, shipping details, and delivery timelines. Escalate issues as needed to ensure commitments are met.
Delivery Visibility & Field Alignment
Provide clear, timely updates to procurement, warehouse, and field teams on order status. Ensure delivery expectations are communicated and aligned with project needs, including will-call, jobsite delivery, and warehouse receipt.
Issue Resolution & Exception Management
Identify and resolve issues related to late shipments, backorders, missing items, or incorrect deliveries. Coordinate with procurement, suppliers, warehouse, and AP to ensure invoice reconciliation discrepancies are corrected quickly and efficiently.
Reporting & System Accuracy
Maintain accurate and up-to-date order status within systems and tracking tools. Generate reports on open orders, delayed shipments, and supplier performance to support operational visibility and decision-making.
Knowledge
- High school or GED required
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics or similar fields
- Proficient in math, reading, and professional writing
Work Experience
- 3+ years of experience in procurement, logistics, expediting, or supply chain support
- Experience working with purchase orders, supplier communications, and delivery coordination
- Exposure to warehouse operations, inventory flow, or jobsite material delivery preferred
- Experience working cross-functionally with procurement, operations, and vendors
- Familiarity with ERP systems and order tracking tools preferred

- Office setting with occasional visits to warehouse or supplier locations
