Job Summary
The Buyer – Purchasing Administrator supports Insulet’s Global Procurement team by managing purchasing operations and supplier administration.This role coordinates supplier onboarding, maintains purchasing data, and oversees procurement system processes and metrics.
Responsibilities include converting requisitions into purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers, and tracking deliveries to ensure on-time fulfillment.
The position also analyzes purchasing data, resolves shipment issues, and supports inventory movement activities.
Ideal candidates have strong Excel, ERP/MRP, analytical, communication, and customer service skills, with 0-2 years of purchasing experience.
Position Overview:
The Buyer – Purchasing Administrator is part of Insulet’s Global Procurement organization, reporting to the Indirect Category manager. The Buyer – Purchasing Administrator has two key Responsibilities:. First, s/he is responsible for administering Insulet’s purchasing system. This includes but is not limited to: requesting onboarding paperwork from suppliers, tracking weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual metrics of supplier performance, managing the open order report, and working with Insulet stakeholders to refine the policies, procedures, and systems governing Insulet’s purchasing system.
Additionally, the Buyer – Purchasing Administrator is responsible for traditional buying, mostly of Indirect materials. Responsibilities: include negotiating with suppliers, converting requisitions to purchase orders and sending these to suppliers, following up with suppliers to ensure delivery dates are met.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinates new supplier set up process
• Manages and maintains Master Data information
• Verifies purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master list, clarifying unclear items, recommends alternatives
• Turns requisitions into purchase orders and forwards purchase orders to suppliers
• Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price, obtains recommendations from suppliers for substitute items
• Provides purchasing information by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data and trends
• Monitors shipments to ensure that goods come in on time and traces shipment of undelivered good
• Resolves shipments in error with suppliers
• Expedites orders when necessary
• Negotiates purchasing agreements with suppliers
• Oversees all phases of inventory movements, including ordering, receiving
• Performs other duties as required
Education and Experience:
• BS/BA in Business Administration, Communications preferred
• 0 -2 years of experience as a Buyer/Planner, preferably in a Medical Device Environment APICS Certification a plus
Preferred Skills and Competencies:
• Experience with ERP/MRP
• Experience with Microsoft AX ERP Software preferred
• Proficient in MS Office – emphasis on Excel
• Excellent problem solving and analytical abilities
• Cooperative, team player and positive attitude a must
• Strong service-orientation
• Clear verbal and written communication skills
