At ETEL, we’re focused on delivering high-quality, reliable solutions for our customers — and strong procurement capability is critical to achieving this. Effective category management ensures we deliver value, maintain supply continuity, and build strong supplier partnerships that support business performance.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in shaping how we manage spend, engage suppliers, and deliver commercial outcomes across the business. You’ll work closely with stakeholders to ensure procurement decisions are well-informed, compliant, and aligned to business priorities.

We’re looking for someone who combines strong commercial thinking with practical delivery — someone who can translate data and market insights into clear strategies and tangible results.

About the role

As our Procurement Category Specialist, you’ll be responsible for developing and delivering category strategies that optimise cost, manage risk, and ensure reliable supply across assigned spend areas.

You’ll lead end-to-end sourcing activities and partner closely with stakeholders to shape demand, define requirements, and ensure procurement activity is aligned to policy and governance.

You’ll also play a key role in strengthening supplier performance, improving procurement processes, and contributing to a more disciplined and value-focused procurement environment.

What you’ll be doing

  • Developing and implementing category strategies aligned to business priorities
  • Leading sourcing activities including RFx processes, evaluation, negotiation and contract award
  • Analysing spend and supply markets to identify opportunities for value, savings and risk management
  • Managing supplier relationships and performance (KPIs, service levels and improvement plans)
  • Partnering with stakeholders to define requirements and influence purchasing behaviours
  • Supporting contract management, compliance, and procurement governance
  • Identifying and managing supply and supplier risks, including sustainability considerations
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of procurement processes, tools and reporting

What you’ll bring

  • Minimum 5–10 years’ experience in procurement, category management, or strategic sourcing in a complex organisation
  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Supply Chain, Commerce, Law or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven experience leading end-to-end sourcing activities (RFx, evaluation, negotiation, contract award)
  • Strong commercial and analytical capability, including spend analysis and total cost of ownership
  • Demonstrated ability to manage supplier relationships and performance frameworks
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence outcomes and drive compliance
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes end-to-end
  • High attention to detail and strong contract/documentation discipline

What sets you apart

  • You think commercially and focus on delivering value and outcomes
  • You translate data and market insights into practical strategies
  • You build strong relationships and influence stakeholders effectively
  • You take a disciplined, structured approach to governance and risk
  • You are proactive and continuously look for ways to improve processes and performance
