Job Summary
The Procurement Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods, materials, and services to meet the company’s operational needs (surgical and medical supplies). This role ensures that goods and services are procured in a cost-effective manner while maintaining high quality standards. The Procurement Buyer works closely with suppliers, internal departments, and other stakeholders to drive value, reduce costs, and ensure timely delivery.
Essential Job Functions
Sourcing and Supplier Management:
- Oversee and manage our transactional catalogs, including medical/surgical supplies and office supplies.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, and reliability
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to secure favorable terms and reliable product availability.
Negotiation and Cost Savings:
- Work with department lead to develop, monitor, and manage the facility and real estate budgets including invoice audit and reconciliation.
- Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers to ensure cost savings and service quality.
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce procurement costs and improve efficiency.
Compliance, Governance, and Risk Management:
- Document procurement processes, decisions, and contractual agreements for reference and reporting.
- Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks related to supplier performance, quality, or pricing.
- Review current reporting for purchase compliance to help identify savings opportunities for the enterprise.
Administration and Reporting:
- Help coordinate and schedule projects including facility decommissioning, construction buildouts, and third party supplier collaboration.
- Prepare regular reports on procurement metrics, supplier performance, and cost savings achieved.
Mail Handling:
- Daily corporate virtual mail management. Duties will include rerouting mail to appropriate department individual and Athena or AP lockbox as directed.
Required Education, Experience & Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Business Administration, Supply Chain Management / Procurement, and/or Facilities Management
- 1 to 5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or contract negotiation
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and resolve conflicts
- Strong work ethic with commitment to professionalism in procurement practices
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
Preferred Education, Experience & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field
- 3 – 5 years of experience in a procurement position
- Professional Certifications
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Attention to detail
