Whom are we looking for?
We are looking for a hands-on Procurement & Compliance Specialist to help build and professionalize our procurement and supply chain processes for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). In this role, you will review and improve our procurement setup from the ground up, covering sourcing, supplier management, contracts, and compliance. You will ensure technical and legal compliance (ISO standards, EU Battery Passport, REACH/RoHS) and work closely with our China office on local sourcing and supplier follow-up. You’ll use our ERP system to manage procurement and inventory data and coordinate cross-border logistics. You will be embedded within the Operations department work closely with engineering, QAHSE, and operations teams to keep procurement activities running smoothly and in compliance with internal and international technical requirements.
What it takes you to be successful in this role:
- Build and optimize procurement workflows aligned with ISO and EU standards.
- Source technical components for BESS (cells, modules, PCBA, electrical/mechanical parts).
- Lead RFQs, tenders, and supplier evaluations with strong commercial ownership.
- Manage suppliers and actively enforce SLAs, cost, quality, and delivery commitments.
- Act as a commercial counterweight to senior technical and commercial stakeholders.
- Draft, review, and manage contracts, NDAs, and framework agreements (Dutch & EU law).
- Ensure compliance with EU Battery Passport, REACH, RoHS, and related regulations.
- Coordinate procurement and compliance activities with the China office.
- Oversee cross-border logistics from China to Rotterdam, including ETA monitoring.
- Verify shipping and customs documentation (e.g. Bills of Lading).
- Arrange onward transport to warehouses or customer sites.
- Maintain procurement, inventory, and supplier compliance data in the ERP system.
Key Qualifications:
- 5+ years of senior-level experience in technical procurement or supply chain (BESS, EV, electronics, or manufacturing).
- Fluency in Dutch (to review contracts and conduct purchasing, and local supplier sourcing) and English languages. Knowledge of Chinese is a strong plus.
- Strong commercial mindset with proven ability to challenge suppliers and internal experts.
- Proven knowledge of knowledge of ISO standards, EU regulatory frameworks, and supplier compliance.
- Experience with China-based sourcing and cross-border procurement is preferred.
- Proficient with ERP systems for procurement, inventory, and compliance tracking.
- Senior presence with hands-on execution capability.
Skills Required
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in technical procurement, supply chain or buying
- Strong understanding of ISO standards and EU regulatory frameworks
- Experience with China-based sourcing
- Proficient in ERP systems for procurement
- Fluent in English and Chinese; Dutch is a plus
- Familiarity with EU Battery Passport and sustainability reporting
