Process Safety Engineer
Huntsman is seeking a Process Safety Engineer supporting the Manufacturing function located in Conroe, Texas. This position will report to the Technical Manager.
Job Scope
The Process Safety Engineer supports the Conroe manufacturing facility's Process Safety Management (PSM) program by maintaining Process Safety Information (PSI), supporting Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) activities, coordinating Management of Change (MOC) documentation, and assisting with process safety compliance initiatives.
This role works closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, EHS, and Project teams to ensure process safety systems and documentation remain accurate, current, and compliant with OSHA PSM requirements.
In summary, as the Process Safety Engineer, you will:
- Maintain and improve Process Safety Information (PSI) and document control systems.
- Coordinate and support Management of Change (MOC) activities and documentation.
- Assist with Independent Protection Layer (IPL) verification activities and safeguard documentation.
- Support Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), LOPA studies, and risk assessment activities.
- Coordinate process safety audits, track corrective actions, and support compliance initiatives.
- Serve as the site subject matter expert (SME) for facility siting activities.
- Support CAPEX projects with MOC implementation, IPL selection, scope reviews, and process safety guidance.
- Manage weekly incident classifications and maintain incident records in KMS.
- Support Tier Process Safety KPI reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering with 1+ years of relevant experience in process safety, manufacturing, engineering, or operations; OR
- Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering with 1+ years of relevant industrial, internship, or process safety experience.

Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of OSHA Process Safety Management (29 CFR 1910.119).
- Experience with risk assessment methodologies, including HAZOP, What-If Analysis, LOPA, and risk matrix evaluations.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings and P&IDs.
- Experience with PHA-Pro or equivalent process safety software.
- Experience with document management systems.
- Knowledge of process safety information management and document control processes.
- Experience supporting Management of Change (MOC) programs within a manufacturing environment.
Working Environment
- Position is based at the Conroe, Texas manufacturing facility and requires regular interaction with plant operations.
- Work is performed in both office and manufacturing plant environments.
- Occasional plant field visits may be required, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- May require walking, climbing stairs, and accessing various operating units throughout the facility.
