BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as Process Quality Engineer at our new production plant in Viana, Portugal.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead and coordinate the resolution of complex issues using the 8D methodology, identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective actions.
  • Analyze quality data and non-conformities to detect patterns, trends, and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the effective and timely implementation of solutions.
  • Develop and implement action plans to prevent recurrence of issues and promote continuous improvement in processes and products.
  • Conduct internal quality audits and support external audits.
  • Train and guide production teams and other departments on problem-solving techniques and best quality practices.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and external parties to ensure corrective actions are effectively and promptly implemented.
  • Perform other duties and tasks on assigned special projects and assignments not included in the activity for which was hired, when the needs or convenience of the service justify it, for the period necessary for the said needs or conveniences of service
  • Comply with safety, quality, productivity, hygiene and environmental prevention standards
  • Comply with the organization's rules and internal regulations: Code of Ethics, Practice and Schedule
  • Respect workplace safety and cleanliness rules
  • Respect and comply with environmental policy rules

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality roles, focusing on problem-solving and using tools like 8D - preferential 
  • Strong knowledge of the 8D methodology and other root cause analysis tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram).
  • Experience in industrial environments, preferably in automotive, manufacturing, or electronics sectors.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with large data sets and identify trends and solutions.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Shainin Red X ou Blank belt 6 sigma (plus)
