Process Operator
Huntsman is seeking a Process Operator supporting the PP Americas Division located in Freeport, Texas. This position will report to the Production Manager.
Job Scope:
As a Process Operator, you have the responsibility for the safe operation of the ethylene amines production facility in compliance with established procedures and within acceptable limits. Your scope of work includes isolating and clearing equipment for maintenance, returning equipment to operating status, and issuing safe work permits for maintenance activity. With experience and capability, you will also be trained to operate the facility using a distributed control system. We work in a flexible enviroment with some job assignments made outside of traditional roles depending upon need with consideration for a person’s interest and aptitude.
In summary, as the Process Operator, you will:
- Performs necessary work in operating, controlling, adjusting, and regulating temperatures, pressures, levels, flow rates and other operating variables to produce quality on-spec products.
- Maintains current, detailed knowledge and understanding of process unit equipment, unit operations, principals or operating methods used in the process and the effects of such operations on equipment involved.
- Makes periodic rounds of units, checking and/or adjusting process equipment to ensure proper operation, draws product samples for laboratory analysis and makes necessary changes to process conditions based upon laboratory analysis.
- Operates the instrument control board distributed control system or programmable logic control systems.
- May direct the work and train others assigned to the job.
- Cooperates and assists others in the performance of duties assigned.
- Completes reports and records data such as sequential process control charts, operating data, work notifications, and safe work permits using the approved forms.
- Maintains excellent housekeeping habits to ensure the cleanliness, neatness and order of the facility and equipment.
- Complies with the Environment Management System requirements and ISO14001 by following the policies and procedures documented in the facilities operating discipline.
- Accurately completes and files compliance and operating checklists and procedures.
- Actively participates in the site’s pollution prevention and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitors and ensures the safe handling, identification, storage, and removal of hazardous waste streams resulting from production activities.
- Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
- Assists other employees in accomplishment of Huntsman company goals.
- Participates in and completes company-required training programs.
Qualifications :
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED with 2+ year Associate’s degree in Process Technology or other 2+ years technical degree that can translate into chemical plant operations aptitude.
- Or, High School Diploma or equivalent GED with 5+ years of chemical plant operations experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Must have a demonstrated ability with internet, Outlook based email, and Microsoft Office programs.
