Huntsman is seeking a Process Operator supporting the Performance Products Division located in Conroe, Texas. This position will report to the Production Supervisor.

Job Scope

Through adherence to all established Operational and EH&S policies, procedures, and practices; performs all tasks necessary to ensure the safe and productive operations of assigned process units.

In summary, as the Process Operator, you will:  

 With supervision and  decision-making:

  • Performs necessary work in operating, controlling, adjusting, and regulating temperatures, pressures, levels, flow rates and other operating variables for the production of quality material.
  • Maintains current, detailed knowledge and understanding of process unit equipment, unit operations, principles or operating methods used in the process and the effects of such operations on equipment involved.
  • Makes periodic rounds of units, checking and/or adjusting process equipment to ensure proper operation, draws samples for laboratory analysis and bases on laboratory analysis makes necessary changes in operating conditions.
  • As necessary, operates the instrument control board DCS or PLC systems or works outside on the units. May direct the work and train others assigned to the job, and cooperates and assists others in the performance of duties assigned.
  • Completes reports and records data such as EH&S Report, Area Rounds Checklist, Swapbox Checklist, OEL audits, midnight gauges, Startup/Shutdown/ESD checklists, operating data, Work Orders, and Safe Work Permits, using prescribed forms.
  • Cleans & lockout tagout equipment per ECP's for Maintenance per Maintenance Schedule. Maintains good housekeeping habits to ensure the cleanliness, neatness, and order of work area and equipment.

Other general responsibilities:

  • Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
  • Assists other employees in accomplishment of Huntsman company goals.
  • Participates in and completes company-required training programs.
  • Participates in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
 
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications

 A high school diploma or equivalent is required for all jobs. One year of relevant experience may typically be substituted for one year of formal education. 

  • High School diploma/GED
  • 5+ years of chemical plant experience (preferably as a plant operator) may substitute for a degree, or an associate’s degree in Process Technology with 2+ years of experience

Specific Skills and Knowledge

  • Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  •  Must meet Fire Brigade physical requirements including the ability to wear a respirtor and carry up to 50 pound equipment.
  • Must be able to climb and work at elevated heights.
  • Must be willing and able to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule and work nights, weekends and holidays.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to new instructions and/or dynamic organizational priorities is critical for job success.
