Primary Objective
- Provide technical support for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of products that safely and cost-effectively meet quality and delivery requirements, with a focus on melt shop operations, including AOD, EAF, and bottom pouring.

Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with quality and safety systems, policies, and procedures.
- Review and disposition heats produced in the air melt shop.
- Identify and implement improvements to melt shop practices related to product and process performance.
- Serve as an internal technical resource for management and functional groups across Universal Stainless plant locations.
- Perform statistical analyses and correlate process and product data to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Support nonconformance disposition, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Review customer claims and prepare technical reports.
- This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Skills Required
- Four-year degree in Metallurgy or Materials Science
- At least five years of experience as a process metallurgist in a melt shop environment
- US Citizen or US Person meeting ITAR requirements
- At least three years of experience in ferrous metallurgy of aerospace materials
- At least three years of experience in primary melting and remelting processing
- Graduate degree focused on steelmaking research or practical experience
- Experience operating SEM/EDS, including automated feature analysis
- Strong analytical and statistical analysis skills
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or 8D problem-solving techniques
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and computer skills
