What You'll Contribute

The Process Management Intern will work closely with the Process Management Manager and cross-functional stakeholders to assist in identifying process inefficiencies, develop improvement strategies, and drive operational excellence.

Program Overview:  

The Sallie Mae Internship program seeks to attract and develop exceptional early talent while adding value to our organization. Our goal is to tie academic learning into a practical business setting while fostering professional and personal growth within a student’s area of focus. Over the course of the semester, interns will gain exposure to senior leaders, attend meetings, work alongside mentors, and receive valuable performance feedback. 

What You'll Do

• Assist the Process Management Manager in identifying process improvement opportunities based on organizational goals, customer requirements, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Assist in the development and implementation of process improvement plans and initiatives, leveraging methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or other relevant frameworks.
• Work with cross-functional teams to gather process-related information, analyze data, and identify root causes of process issues.
• Support process mapping and documentation efforts to create clear and standardized procedures and workflows.
• Participate in process improvement workshops and brainstorming sessions, contributing ideas and suggestions for process optimization.
• Assist in monitoring and measuring process performance metrics, identifying trends, and reporting findings to the Process Management team.

What you have

Minimum education, skills and experience required.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data, identify patterns, and propose improvement solutions.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, such as Excel, SQL, or data visualization tools.
• Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and quality in work deliverables.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned tasks and projects.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

Education:

• Currently enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a degree in ….
• Open to undergraduate level students with expected graduation dates of Dec 2026 - May 2027

Availability:

• This is a 12 week internship and expectations for a 40 hour work week with a start date of 6/8/26.
• We follow a 3 day flexible in office policy and open to working out of our Newark, DE office.

• Previous internship experience in technology preferred.
