YOUR IMPACT STARTS HERE
We’re looking for a Process Improvement Specialist to join our Corporate Engineering Laboratory team. In this role, you’ll drive process improvement across our R&D Engineering Lab – standardizing work instructions, capturing data through test templates, improving data integration, and applying Lean skill sets to eliminate bottlenecks that impact On Time Delivery (OTD) to our customers. You’ll work closely with the Lab Manager and Technical Leads to build schedules, metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives that support our yearly R&D goals. This is an opportunity to become a subject matter expert across a full suite of Lean disciplines and directly shape how our engineering lab runs.
WHAT YOU’LL BUILD & OWN
- Establish best practices by documenting Engineering Lab Work Instructions (ELWIs), reducing bottlenecks and improving efficiency and quality in the lab
- Maintain lab operations and procedures manuals, including the master training database, preventative maintenance database, and FEM/VPDS records
- Champion continuous improvement development projects in the lab in accordance with Lean & Safety initiatives
- Serve as skill coach and subject matter expert across Lean disciplines, including Awareness, Baseline (process/value stream mapping), Standard Workflow (SWF), Set-Up Reduction (SUR), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Mistake Proofing/Problem Solving (including QCPC), Method Sheets, and Kanban/Pull
- Partner with the Lab Manager and Technical Leads to schedule lean events and establish metrics supporting OTD, efficiency, and quality
- Conduct periodic 5S audits and complete monthly FEM reporting (FEM progress reports, QIP worksheets) and report-outs
- Coordinate procurement and preventative maintenance of lab equipment, facilitating repairs and updating records
- Coordinate and prepare for the annual UL DAP audit
- Perform hands-on lab and testing tasks as needed, including inspection of samples and components, hydrostatic/flex/bending/temperature testing, and UL & FM product testing
- Log and estimate hours using Liquid Planner (LP) as a primary communication and tracking tool
WHAT YOU BRING
- Associate degree (or equivalent experience) in Engineering preferred
- 5 years of industrial, lab, or manufacturing experience preferred
- Extensive knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
- Ability to maintain records and logs, and utilize software to prepare charts and graphs
- Capable of taking verbal and written instructions and performing all laboratory functions
- Comfortable performing demonstrations and speaking in front of customers
- Willingness to travel
