Overview of Role

The Process Engineering Lead will lead Sixone’s Engineering team, overseeing Process Development (internal prototyping and reliability) and Process Scale-up (external technology transfer and vendor collaboration) ensuring smooth execution of prototyping, process development, and technology transfer projects. This role is responsible for day-to-day management, technical guidance, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.

This role will collaborate closely with R&D, Operations, and external partners, balancing hands-on technical oversight with strong people management.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities:

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of engineers

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship on equipment prototyping and reliability.

  • Allocate resources and assign projects based on business priorities.

  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performance team culture.

Project Execution & Delivery

  • Oversee day-to-day engineering activities across prototyping and production.

  • Ensure timelines, budgets, and deliverables are met.

  • Review engineering designs, documentation, and data analysis to ensure rigor.

  • Support engineers in troubleshooting and resolving complex problems.

Process Development & Prototyping

  • Guide the team in designing, building, and testing prototypes.

  • Ensure solutions are reliable, well-documented, and scalable.

  • Support lifecycle management and preventative maintenance of internal systems.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with R&D and Operations to align engineering efforts with company priorities.

  • Provide regular updates on project status, risks, and resource needs to senior leadership.

  • Ensure clear documentation and SOPs are maintained for knowledge transfer.

Candidate Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Chemical, Mechanical, Process, or related).

  • 7+ years of engineering experience, including at least 2+ years in a team leadership role.

  • Strong track record of managing technical teams through prototyping and scale-up.

  • Hands-on problem-solving ability with experience across mechanical, chemical, and control subsystems.

  • Excellent communication skills; able to translate technical issues to cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada and eligible to travel cross-border to the USA.

Skills Required
