We’re seeking a Facilities/Industrial Engineer who’s ready to be hands-on with our infrastructure, tackle real-world challenges, and drive improvements that directly impact our ability to serve our global customers.

Arconic is seeking a Process Engineer to join our Aluminum Extrusion (AEX) business unit in Lafayette, IN.

 

Profile: The primary purpose of this role is to be responsible for capital improvements and assisting with production uptime.

 

Responsibilities

Essential Functions: The Process Engineer within AEX requires technical and interpersonal skills essential to teamwork.  Major duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Working closely with production and maintenance to upgrade existing equipment, perform repairs, and install new machinery.

  • Direct resources in problem solving and tool recovery at bottleneck tool centers during unplanned downtime ensuring detailed communication to all stakeholders.

  • Responsible for technical reporting and communications of KPIs during production to stakeholders including action items to achieve goals

  • Supporting the day-to-day operations by acting as a resource for skilled trades and contracted services.

  • General duties for the Process Engineer include but are not limited to: 

  • Providing high-level technical assistance to production/maintenance personal during both planned and unplanned equipment service interruptions, including after-hours or weekends.

  • Applying root cause problem solving (troubleshooting) techniques to find and eliminate sources of recurring equipment failures through creative, cost-effective solutions.

  • Working with other plant departments to identify, investigate feasibility, and/or create business cases to acquire funding for capital projects.

  • Managing capital projects from conception to commissioning, startup, and handover phases, including equipment supplier/contractor selection and BU level procurement interaction.

  • Developing and maintaining technical documentation (drawings, preventative maintenance procedures, start-up/shutdown procedures, etc.) for new and existing processes and procedures in the assigned work area.

  • Observing and supporting plant safety goals and initiatives.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering from an accredited institution
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting
  • Troubleshooting experience in an industrial setting
  • Proficient in 2D/3D modeling software, AutoCAD/Solidworks, or other applicable modeling software
  • This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. §730, et seq.) and/or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Qualified candidate must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the relevant government agency. Business demands may require employer to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology,

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Lean, Sixth Sigma Back Belt
  • 2-10 years of industry experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven organizational, communication, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience managing capital projects
  • Experience with industrial robots

About the TeamLafayette Operations in Lafayette, IN is located approximately 60 miles from the state's capital, Indianapolis and is the home to Purdue University. Our Lafayette location has been continuously running in Lafayette community since 1938. We are an Aluminum Extrusions plant for Aerospace, Automotive, Industrial and Defense facility. 

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting
  • Troubleshooting experience in an industrial setting
  • Proficiency in 2D/3D modeling software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar)
  • Authorization/access to export-controlled technology (US citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible for required authorizations)
  • Lean, Six Sigma Black Belt
  • 2-10 years industry experience in manufacturing environment

  • Experience with industrial robots
  • Proven organizational, communication, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills
