Position Overview

The Process Engineer supports chemical manufacturing operations at H.B. Fuller’s Fridley site, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient production in a 24/7 environment. This role focuses on optimizing processes, analyzing performance data, and leading capital improvement projects. The position collaborates cross-functionally to enhance operational performance, reduce variability, and deliver consistent product quality.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, monitor, and optimize chemical processes to improve safety, quality, and efficiency

  • Analyze process performance data to identify trends and implement corrective actions

  • Lead capital projects (typically $50K+) from concept through startup and execution

  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and R&D teams to drive process improvements

  • Apply structured problem-solving methods (e.g., DMAIC, FMEA, root cause analysis)

  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards and regulations

  • Conduct risk assessments (e.g., HAZOP) and support troubleshooting activities

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including SOPs and process updates

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field

  • 3–5 years of experience in process engineering within manufacturing or chemical environment

  • Proficiency with data analysis, process optimization, and continuous improvement tools

  • Authorization to work in the United States

Preferred Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in chemical or manufacturing environments

  • Experience managing multiple capital projects ($50K–$500K range)

  • Certification or applied experience in Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies

  • Experience with batch chemical processing or polymerization reactions

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.

The salary for this role is $95,000-$115,000.
