Job Description

Role: Process Engineer

Job Summary: Reporting to plant engineering leadership, the successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring, controlling, and optimizing manufacturing processes to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. This includes oversight of batch handling, furnace and forehearth operations, process control systems, raw material coordination, troubleshooting, supporting maintenance activities, and driving continuous process improvements while maintaining safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Job Responsibilities
• Demonstrate exceptional attendance and reliability
• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures; promote safe work practices
• Monitor and maintain proper batch storage, delivery, weighing, and mixing
• Coordinate with Quality Control and raw material carriers to approve unloading of materials
• Evaluate batch plant control system data and make adjustments to maintain process efficiency and control
• Monitor and control furnace and forehearth operations to ensure optimal glass formation and throughput
• Monitor and adjust critical process variables including gas firing, electric boost power, pressure, temperature, flow rates, oxygen, bubblers, glass level, and batch line
• Inspect furnace and forehearths at required intervals and address identified issues
• Assist with furnace changes, upsets, start-ups, shutdowns, repairs, and rebuilds
• Guide and support maintenance personnel during batch and furnace repairs
• Perform minor repairs and process adjustments as required
• Maintain exceptional housekeeping and organization in all assigned areas including batch house, furnace levels, and control room
• General housekeeping duties
• Additional duties as assigned by Supervisory staff

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
• 3–5 years of process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
• Experience with coating processes, wet formed fiberglass mat processes, or similar manufacturing operations preferred
• Strong technical writing skills with high attention to detail
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC)
• Lean Six Sigma skills and experience preferred
• Advanced analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple short- and long-term projects
• Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision once trained
• Manual dexterity and attention to detail
• Fluent in verbal and written English
• Ability to follow direction and specific instructions
• Good communication skills
• Ability to safely perform heavy lifting up to 50 pounds on a routine basis
• Comfortable with standing for extended periods of time
• Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces
• Must be able to walk and/or stand 90% of the shift

This is a safety sensitive position.
