Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to
- Identify, prioritize, and analyze opportunities to eliminate waste throughout fulfillment/warehouse processes
- Create, improve, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve efficiency and overall throughput
- Lead design and development for unit operations which includes improvements to new and existing equipment using appropriate technical evaluation and involvement
- Pro-actively lead collaboration with cross-functional partners to develop margin improvement and technical innovation opportunities
- Conduct and/or manage experiments, trials, and analyses to validate and advance technical opportunities
- Provide effective communication and documentation of work including technical plans, experimental reports, financial analysis, and management updates
- Communicate status and issues regarding project activity on a continual basis
- Offer engineering support and troubleshooting assistance to the cross functional operational teams
- Provide innovative technical solutions required to meet business objectives with emphasis on productivity and cost reduction
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and new vendors, suppliers, and contractors
- Utilize Continuous Improvement tools, including but not limited to Fish Bone Diagram, 5 Whys, Pareto Charts, FMEA, and DMAIC to support CI initiatives
- Ability to travel up to 30%
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technical/scientific disciplines
- Minimum 3 years of relevant engineering experience within a culture of continuous process improvement
- Proficiency with CAD software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with line balance and time studies
- Experience with material handling equipment
- Familiarity with Continuous Improvement tools and processes
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Six Sigma certified
- Experience with large capital projects
- Familiarity with PLC programming and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of utility (steam, water, air, NH3, etc.) design and impacts on the process
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to use hands to feel, grab, or operate objects, tools, and controls while reaching with hands and arms
- Frequently required to stand, communicate, and listen
- Occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel or crouch
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Visual perception to perform job including peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Able to perform repetitive movements
- Able to work in variable temperatures (cold/hot)
