JOB OVERVIEW

Manufacturing Product Engineer that solves technical and logistical issues related to manufacturing development of new programs, under supervision. Works on projects from design into the production phase to ensure program success. Implements and refines manufacturing methods and processes for production of complex R&D designs. The position requires a person to work as a team member interfacing with the following groups: Product and Industrial Design, Product Innovation, Program Management, Testing, as well as Global Suppliers. Typical responsibilities which are within the scope of this position include: review of design for manufacturability, supplier liaison, analysis of data, process implementation, testing of components, failure analysis review, the creation of product specifications and process flow and control documentation, process refinement to achieve Design intent including cosmetic finishing, establish quality criteria, determine supplier capabilities, audit supplier performance, generate qualification and inspection plans, and authorize the production release of the product.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Day to day support
    • Responsible for leading technical and integration aspects of product manufacturing development for key critical technologies and processes
    • Function as the technical lead and liaison between Product and Industrial Design, Product Innovation, Program Management and Global Suppliers.
    • Review and confirm the creation of detailed drawings for new products to ensure critical dimensions by interfacing with: Product Design and Suppliers.
    • Manage the creation of inspection gages and fixtures for components and clubs.
  • Product/Process qualifications and improvements
    • Implementation of new manufacturing methods and processes for transition of products into production volumes.
    • Monitor data and sample parts to determine if components meet Design intent and specifications.
    • Create test plans and request necessary testing for all club components and coordinate components for player testing and manufacturing pre-production testing.
    • Create test summary and lessons learned for new development technologies to support transfer of information and enable new products to meet high-volume production requirements with built-in quality.
    • Develop new processes and assess Supplier Capability to manufacture new technology designs.
    • Manage test plans and reports (capability studies, qualification, and validation).
    • Characterize key process parameters in Suppliers’ processes and create process control plan documents.
    • Provide input to R&D regarding processing and material options during the development of new products – Design for Manufacturability (DFM).

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • Solid knowledge and experience utilizing engineering fundamentals and testing methods.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to collaborate with suppliers in an independent mode to solve technical problems.
  • Ability to lead technical meetings and report project status.
  • Knowledge of materials, heat treatment and/or welding preferred.
  • Experience with investment casting, forging, welding, metal finishing, coatings, and/or composites required.
  • Experience with injection and compression molding helpful.
  • Good mechanical aptitude with a hands-on approach and knowledge of basic tools and instrumentation.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge and demonstrated application of quality methods and tools. This includes but is not limited to 6 Sigma, FMEA, Design of Experiments, Statistical Process Controls, Measure System Analysis.
  • Able to work extended hours in critical situations.
  • Valid passport required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • BS in Engineering or equivalent required.
  • General knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally is required.
  • Minimum 3 years related experience.
