About the Process Engineer position

HFI is seeking a Process Engineer to bolster Ohio Plant Operations. The ideal candidate will excel in analyzing and upholding quality standards within a fast paced manufacturing setting. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role will offer on-site expertise, actively resolving daily process and equipment challenges. The Process Engineer who will help us with the process design, operation and implementation. Your duties will include improving industrial processes, maximizing profitability, reducing costs (scrap) and maintaining efficiency. You should be a good problem solver with creative approach to your tasks, deeply concerned about quality and efficiency and well-versed in the latest technology trends and best practices.


Process Engineer responsibilities are:

    • Establish and optimize process parameters for existing and new product lines in order to implement and maintain the most efficient process with the focus on improving:
      • Process Efficiency
      • Scrap
      • Rework
      • Overtime
    • Analysis of production process parameters (i.e. for foam: chemical temperatures, chemical pressures, ratio and etc.) to maintain production and quality standard, improve process efficiency and reducing process variation in order to reduce scrap and eliminate rework.
    • Lead systematic troubleshooting and problem solving activity on complex manufacturing processes and systems in order to improve product quality.
    • Support the Engineering Change Process (HFI ECN Process) as needed including modification of Production Tooling & Fixtures, Capital, Operations Standards, PFMEA, Process Flow Charts and other HFI Process Documentation (including the distribution of hard copies of Operation Standards in Production and training of Production Associates to new and/or revised Operation Standards)
    • Lead the transition of New Model Activity to Mass Production with the Project Engineer and Program Launch Manager for all assigned product lines and ensures that all relevant issues are captured and communicated to the appropriate program team members. Lead or support new product and process development activity and trial builds.
    • Generation and championing implementation of multiple Continuous Improvement Ideas on existing product lines on a consistent basis throughout the year.
    • Provide on-the-floor presence and expertise to address daily process and equipment issues.
    • Other assignments as required


Process Engineer requirements are:

  • 3+ years' experience of working on a Process Engineer or other relevant position

  • Significant experience with process simulations and process engineering software packages

  • Excellent knowledge of process related standards

  • Strong technical skills and good practical experience with CAD or AutoCad

  • Good knowledge of health and safety regulations

  • Strong analytical thinker with interpersonal skills

  • BSc degree in Engineering
