The Process Manufacturing Engineer supports vehicle processing operations by developing, optimizing, and sustaining manufacturing processes that enable safe, efficient, and scalable production. This role works cross-functionally with production leadership, engineering, and product development to ensure process readiness, capacity alignment, and continuous improvement across new and existing operations.
Responsibilities:
- Independently analyze manufacturing processes to identify issues, assess risks, and recommend practical solutions using standard procedures, industry best practices, and sound engineering judgment.
- Drive problem-solving and process improvement initiatives, escalating for broader support only when work extends beyond the normal course of business.
- Provide engineering support for vehicle processing operations, including new product launches, prototype builds, and production ramp-ups.
Process & Capacity Support:
- Maintain and update production documents governing layout, workflow, and system configurations.
- Support capacity planning, layout redesigns, and expansion efforts to meet production targets.
- Coordinate production-related documentation in advance of new product launches.
Production Systems & Tooling:
- Determine appropriate production equipment and tooling in collaboration with production leadership, considering ergonomics, throughput, space constraints, and performance requirements.
- Order and implement tooling and equipment to support production systems.
- Establish and maintain preventative maintenance schedules for critical production equipment.
Production Flow & Documentation:
- Define and document the correct order of operations to ensure accurate work order execution.
- Support the development and maintenance of Bills of Process and related production documentation for new and existing products.
- Validate work instructions, installation guides, and standard work documentation during prototype and production build events.
Audit & Standardization:
- Develop and maintain audit schedules for critical and Delta processes.
- Support audit findings, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and continuous improvement activities.
- Standardize processes and ensure documentation is current and aligned with approved process changes, Product Development, PLM systems, and standard work documents.
Collaboration & Influence:
- Partner effectively with supervisors, cross-functional teams, and leadership to drive alignment and influence decisions related to manufacturing processes and improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing, or a related discipline).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Experience working within organizational hierarchies and collaborating with supervisors, production teams, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and process improvement skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision; highly proactive and self-directed.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and engage leadership.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); intermediate Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables) preferred but not required.
