About the Role
FST Technical Services is seeking an experienced Process Engineer – Bulk Gas to join our team in Leixlip, Co. Kildare, supporting large-scale semiconductor manufacturing projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Process Engineer with experience in bulk gas, specialty gas, industrial utilities or semiconductor facilities to play a key role in the delivery of critical process utility systems.
The successful candidate will act as a technical focal point between clients, equipment vendors, design teams, construction teams and operations, supporting projects from design and procurement through to construction, commissioning and handover.
Experience with one or more of the following would be highly advantageous:
  • Bulk Nitrogen Systems
  • VPSA Oxygen Generation Plants
  • Air Separation Units (ASUs)
  • Hydrogen Generation & Distribution
  • Specialty Gas Systems
  • Cryogenic Storage & Distribution
  • Semiconductor Process Utilities
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate bulk gas and specialty gas vendor packages from design through to commissioning and handover.
  • Act as the technical interface between equipment vendors and project stakeholders.
  • Review and coordinate key vendor deliverables, including PFDs, P&IDs, equipment data sheets, layouts, control philosophies and utility requirements.
  • Participate in and lead technical design reviews and ensure timely resolution of technical queries and actions.
  • Review vendor process designs for compliance with project specifications, industry standards and operational requirements.
  • Review process calculations, equipment selections, pressure control schemes, redundancy philosophies and utility consumption.
  • Coordinate interfaces between gas systems and other disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation & controls, civil/structural and facility systems.
  • Support procurement activities, technical tender reviews, vendor evaluations and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
  • Provide engineering support during construction, installation and system integration.
  • Support commissioning, start-up, performance testing, SAT and final handover.
  • Participate in HAZID, HAZOP and process safety reviews.
  • Ensure work is delivered in accordance with applicable health & safety, quality and environmental requirements.
Requirements
Essential
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years' experience in process engineering, industrial utilities or vendor package management.
  • Experience delivering complex industrial process or utility systems.
  • Strong understanding of PFDs, P&IDs, process control and process safety.
  • Experience working with vendors, contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
Experience in any of the following would be an advantage:
  • Semiconductor manufacturing
  • Bulk or specialty gas systems
  • Industrial gas suppliers
  • VPSA or ASU systems
  • Cryogenic storage and distribution
  • Hydrogen infrastructure
  • High-purity process utilities
  • Commissioning and start-up
  • BIM/Navisworks coordination
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership

We're looking for an engineer who is technically strong and comfortable working in a complex, multidisciplinary project environment.
You will be confident managing vendor interfaces, coordinating multiple stakeholders and taking ownership of technical deliverables, while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and project delivery.
