Entry level Process Engineer. Acts in support role for lead process engineering resources on projects and proposals. Able to assist in projects under more experienced engineer's direction and supervision. Able to read and comprehend once directed codes and regulations. Apply calculations and tools under direction.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Execute project tasks under direction of more experienced engineers.
- Perform calculations with established tools and methods for heat and mass transfer and fluid mechanics along with other necessary calculations.
- Create and maintain Process Flow Diagrams and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s) based on information supplied by experienced engineers.
- Gather detailed information on vendor supplied components.
- Generate text for proposals, specifications, narratives, and other documentation based on templates and other guidance.
- Generate lists and schedules for equipment, instruments, and other components for estimates, selection review, ordering and other uses.
- Check and review documents for grammar and clerical mistakes.
- Capture meeting minutes and other notes from customer interaction to document needs of customer and changes during project.
- Write out requests for information based on direction from others.
- Must be able to read and comprehend regulations for production and codes for fabrication and construction. Including ASME BPE (Bioprocessing Equipment), 3-A SSI (3-A Sanitary Standards, Inc), ASME B31.1 Power Piping, ASME B31.3 Process Piping, IMC (International Mechanical Code), IPC (International Plumbing Code), IBC, (International Building Code), OSHA, cGMP (Food, Fish, Animal Feed, Drug, and Dietary Supplement), FDA and USDA Guidelines.
- Actively participate in RCI to drive improvements for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost, in support of company goals/objectives and to exceed customers’ expectations.
- Properly track costs, including personal time and spend, to keep budgets and notify proper resources of expanded costs.
- Document sources and history of design development throughout project.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Process Leads and manager.
- Assist in FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) preparation and execution.
- Assist in SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) preparation and execution.
- Assist in shop and installation support work as needed. Either in office or on site.
- Travel requirement up to 15%.
Qualifications:
- Introductory knowledge of basic engineering and equipment design principles.
- Experience using full Microsoft Office suite of software.
- Experience using AutoCAD a plus.
- Eagerness and drive to learn practical and regulatory engineering practices.
- Strong integrity to support ethical engineering decisions.
- Agility to work outside of comfort zone in OEM and product manufacturing environments.

ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, or bioprocess engineering or equivalent preferred. 0-3 years of experience, preferably in equipment and/or system design for food or pharmaceutical industries.
