Position Title: Process Engineer


Position Summary


Support all chemical processing units and operations by leveraging chemical engineering and technical expertise to drive continuous improvement initiatives, process optimization, and cost reduction. Lead and execute equipment upgrades and new installations. Maintain ownership and support for site Distributed Control System (DCS) and data historian.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform process modeling and design calculations for new and existing processes.
  • Specify instrumentation and program control logic for DCS and PLC equipment for new and existing processes. 
  • Lead and organize plant trials or laboratory experiments necessary to establish optimal process parameters in terms of safety, quality, operating, efficiency and capacity. 
  • Establish manufacturing standards, monitoring actual plant performance, and make proposals for improvement. 
  • Assist in commissioning of new plant equipment and in troubleshooting of existing processes. 
  • Contribute to the training of operators, production supervisors, and others as required, particularly in the area of new and modified processes. 
  • Configure data historian (Aspen Process Explorer) graphics and process tags.
  • Configure DCS (DeltaV) process graphics, control modules, alarms, instrument I/O, batch programs, and associated hardware and infrastructure.
  • Act as a key contributor and lead initiatives for the Site Safety Committee, Energy Management Team, and the Food Safety Team.
  • Assist in facilitating Management of Change (MOC), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Mechanical Integrity (MI), and Process Safety Management (PSM) standards.

Education & Experience


Education: B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering is required


Experience:  

  • Minimum of two to three (2-3) years in an industrial chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with process instrumentation, control systems, and data historians. (DeltaV preferred)
  • Sound interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills 
  • Experience with continuous chemical processes or refinery operations dealing with reactions, distillation, heat exchanger networks, or vacuum systems.

Knowledge, Skills, & Talents

  • Expertise in the FSSC 22000/22002 system and cGMP requirements by training or direct experience 
  • ISO 9001/14001

Pay


The estimated base pay range for this position is: $$88,000 - $132,000 annually.  Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, qualifications, skills and geographic location.  This position is eligible to participate in a short-term incentive program.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum of two to three years of experience in an industrial chemical manufacturing environment
  • Experience with process instrumentation, control systems, and data historians
