Ketjen is hiring for a Process Engineer. This position is in-office and located in Amsterdam.
This role has responsibility for process engineering aspects of pre-projects (Front-End engineering), project implementation (detailed engineering) and commissioning & start-up in relation to change and expansion projects for all production facilities on site.

What You Will Do
Process Design: Performs process studies (plant responsibility) and basic process engineering tasks (engineering responsibility) during pre-projects.
Performs detailed process engineering tasks (engineering responsibility) during project implementation.
Develops and executes CSU plans in the project execution phase, bringing the project to the operation phase.
Knowledge carrier (Subject Matter Experts): Acts as SME (Subject Matter Experts) to provide guidance and advice to peers.
Opportunity Manager; Leading Projects and Programs
Can Act for small projects as Opportunity Manager to initiate and develop a project scope till Define Phase, where normally the Project Manager takes over and the PE can act as process design engineer. Is assigned to lead the project through the early development stages (Evaluate and Select), and takes ownership of the business delivery aspects of the project.
What You Bring
Required:
- Academic (bachelor) of working and thinking, with at least 3 years of experience in engineering.
- Degree in applicable engineering or science discipline, preferably Chemical Engineering.
- Provides specialized knowledge as an expert and experience in the field of process design (Mass and Heat Balance calculations, PFD’s and PID development, PHA/EHA, PSV design, CSU).
- Communication skills: to have an eye for consultation, good listener, clear and can react directly with arguments.
- Excellent writing skills in English (and preferably Dutch) for the preparation of reports and findings of (sub) projects.
Preferred:
- Academic (master) of working and thinking, with at least 5 years of experience in engineering.
- Degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Managerial skills: managing employees from a (non-) hierarchical position.
- Has proven experience leading a project team during the front-end engineering phase
- Knowledge of research methods, techniques and guidelines in the field of quality, safety and the environment
- Agility to create alternate plans to achieve targets in a dynamic environment
- Results-driven, outcome-focused, action-oriented approach with a collaborative operating style
- Self-steering and pro-active in shared risk taking.
- Data-based decision making, problem solving, prioritization, and risk-based management skills
