Job Description
Position Summary
The Sr. Lead Engineer is responsible for providing oversight for the discipline at a project, office and regional level. The Sr. Lead Engineer is responsible for managing the project discipline budgets on complex projects of all sizes or across a series of smaller projects.
Engineer is responsible for directing and managing the workflows and execution of design and engineering support staff (Entry-Level to Senior) to meet client expectation and project goals.
The Subject Matter Expert possesses rare and exceptional technical knowledge within their chosen specialization, coupled with general industry knowledge and experience. This broad and deep knowledge provides value to clients during project sponsorship and inception to ensure that the investment supports the business goals and accounts for constraints and external risks. This individual provides guidance for developing Lead and Senior Engineers to help identify and manage technical risks during execution and delivery.
Responsibilities
· Responsible for directing and managing the workflows and execution of design and engineering support staff (Entry-Level to Senior) to meet client expectation and project goals
· Coordinate with internal and external parties, manage multiple complex tasks, establish priorities and direct the work of others
· Work with a Project Manager for proposal development, man-hour planning, project scheduling for the discipline scope of work on advanced level projects
· Identify and resolve advanced non-compliant existing conditions during site walks and construction field surveys
· Attend external seminars/conferences for professional development preferred
· Develop advanced internal discipline design and engineering training presentations
· Develop construction drawing packages and write construction specifications on advanced and complex projects without oversight
· Lead and advanced support of construction activities such as RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch list development, and construction progress reports
· Conduct technical and leadership interview
· Conduct quality checking of documents for advanced complex projects, e.g., technical verification of design calculations and
documentation, and drive overall project quality
· Provide mentorship to Discipline Engineer I, II, and III and/or Designer I, II, an III
· Lead advanced project system design programming and master planning with support from Senior Engineer
· Lead a team of discipline staff in the execution of advanced projects discipline design and engineering
· Communicate and coordinate with internal and external architects, engineers, partners, clients, construction managers, subcontractors, and vendors
· Provide oversight and technical leadership to other offices and related functions such as Business Development, Technical Advancement and Vertical Markets
· Provide industry level perspective and guidance to frame business strategy in the face of evolving technology or client buying behavior
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
· ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in discipline specific degree
· Master’s degree in an appropriate specialization is desirable
· A PhD in an appropriate specialization is desirable
· PE is recommended
· Minimum of 15 years of experience required for Senior Lead position
· Minimum of 20 years of experience for Senior or SME position
· A mixture of design firm, operating company or construction related experience (within the market sector) are desirable
Additional Qualifications
· Advanced knowledge of and application of cGMPs in advanced technology industry projects across market sectors
· Expert experience with the discipline code, generically stated required
· Advanced experience with other applicable industry standards required
· Advanced experience with applicable building codes required
· Ability to interface with client and external partners required
· Ability to plan and direct work and manage a project budget form and discipline design perspective on large complex projects required
· Advanced experience conducting and leading field surveys of existing conditions and support of field reporting required
· Proficient with advanced internal and external cross-discipline project team coordination required
· Proficient with advanced coordination with construction trade partners, vendors, and manufacturers required
· Proficient at advanced list of discipline systems design calculations without supervision required
