A successful person in this role will have strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. They possess exceptional organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and have a flexible working style—equally comfortable with independent work and team-based projects. They are also willing to occasionally modify their schedule to meet deadlines and/or client needs.

Your impact – key responsibilities

  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and leadership to entry-level engineers and interns in a project context, delegating and overseeing tasks as needed.

About the opportunity

Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance. This position is classified as an exempt (salaried) position under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

  • Hybrid: a hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position may be based out of our Minneapolis, Salt Lake City, Reno, Hibbing, Denver, Bismarck, or Ann Arbor offices.

  • Travel expectation: approximately 5%–10%.

  • Work environment: ability to work in an office environment and ability to work in locations that include rough terrain typical of construction, manufacturing, and/or rural outdoor sites with limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. Candidates must be able to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

About you – required core competencies

  • Education: bachelor's degree in chemical, metallurgical, or mechanical engineering.

  • Experience: five or more years of related experience.

  • Software: familiarity with Microsoft Office software, Bluebeam, and process simulation modeling such as Metsim, Aspen, or SysCAD.

  • Driver’s license: possession of a current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future.
