Process Engineer, Metallurgy

Key performance areas

As a Process Engineer, Metallurgy for seamless tube manufacturing, you will be a subject matter expert and support continuous improvement efforts across all manufacturing processes. You will be expected to become proficient in key processes including tube reducing (pilger), pilger tool design, tube finishing processes, and vacuum annealing. Technical advancement in the organization is available through increased depth and breadth of capabilities. Starting level will depend on experience. U.S. citizenship is required.

Your Role

  • Define tube reduction passes.
  • Design tube reducing (pilger) tooling.
  • Process control for mechanical and chemical surface finishing.
  • Process control for vacuum annealing.
  • Define and maintain manufacturing route steps.
  • Validate impact of process or equipment changes.
  • Write and/or revise manufacturing procedures.
  • Document findings and recommendations thorough written reports.
  • Support sales in determining manufacturability.
  • Support risk analysis and failure analysis.
  • Stay current on industry specifications related to precision tube manufacturing.

About You

We are looking for someone with a B.S. degree in Metallurgical Engineering or a closely related discipline and experience in manufacturing. You can work either independently or as a constructive member of a team. You have a drive to continually improve your understanding of the fundamentals behind the processes and products you support. A Master of Science degree will be a plus. U.S. citizenship is required.

Candidates should also possess:

  • Process engineering experience of 5 years or more.
  • Experience in metal forming processes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of metallurgy/material science.
  • Demonstrated experience in a process change control work environment.
  • Failure analysis investigation and reporting.
  • Working safely as a core guiding principle.
  • A working knowledge of statistical methods such as SPC, regression, and hypothesis testing.
  • Data based decision making.
  • A willingness to continually learn and develop proficiency of company and industry methods.

What you can expect from us

The salary range for this position is $82,000 to $102,000 annually with a 10% annual bonus opportunity and annual merit increase eligibility.

Additional elements of the compensation package include medical, dental, vision insurance as well as company paid disability and life insurance. We offer paid time off, 11 paid holidays a year and a 401 (K) retirement savings plan that has a 5% company contribution with company match of 50% for the first 6% you invest.
