Join a growing engineering team supporting industrial process and manufacturing projects. This role is ideal for an early-career Chemical, Mechanical, Biochemical, or Petroleum Engineer looking to build expertise in process design, process safety, simulation, and project execution while working alongside experienced engineering professionals.
This role offers frequent opportunities to visit the client site, providing firsthand exposure to project activities and valuable experience supporting real-world engineering and manufacturing operations.
Hybrid schedule offered for local candidates. Sorry, per diem, relocation and sponsorship (TN, OPT, H1B etc.) are not available for this role.
What You'll Do
- Support process engineering design for chemical, petroleum, and biochemical projects.
- Develop process calculations, material take-offs, sketches, and design documentation.
- Assist with process simulations, hydraulic analyses, and equipment sizing.
- Participate in process safety reviews and incorporate safety principles into design activities.
- Review vendor, fabrication, and construction documents for technical compliance.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure project success.
- Provide field support, site data collection, tie-in verification, and construction assistance.
- Assist with cost estimates, conceptual studies, and detailed engineering deliverables.
What We're Looking For
- BS or MS in Chemical, Mechanical, Biochemical, or Petroleum Engineering.
- 1+ years of industrial process design experience.
- EIT certification strongly preferred; PE or CPIP preferred when eligible.
- Familiarity with process simulation software such as Aspen Plus, HYSYS, CHEMCAD, PRO/II, DYNSIM, or similar.
- Exposure to hydraulic modeling tools such as AFT Fathom, PIPE-FLO, PIPEPHASE, or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills and effective written/verbal communication abilities.
- Willingness to travel for project meetings, fieldwork, and client support.

Below is the range that we in good faith believe is the potential compensation for this role at the time of this posting and is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Hargrove’s total compensation package for Teammates. Actual compensation will be based on education, experience, skill set and location.
Minimum Salary: $125,000 annually
Maximum Salary: $145,000 annually

Skills Required
- Bachelor or Master of Science in Chemical, Mechanical, Biochemical, or Petroleum Engineering from an accredited university
- 1+ years of relevant industrial experience in chemical, petroleum, or biochemical process design engineering
- Basic knowledge of chemical/biochemical process engineering and process computer programs
- Knowledge of process safety and how to apply safety requirements to process design
- Basic knowledge in the use of process simulation software (Aspen Plus, Aspen Plus Dynamics, PRO/II, DYNSIM, HYSYS, CHEMCAD, WinGEMS, ProMax, etc.)
- Basic knowledge in the use of hydraulic simulation software (AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow, PIPEPHASE, PIPE-FLO, SiNet, etc.)
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Working knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD and/or MicroStation)
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Virtual team skills and ability to provide interoffice execution support with close supervision
- Willingness to travel as required for on-site work, project meetings, client presentations, or training
- Engineer in Training (EIT) registration
- Professional Engineering registration or CPIP certification upon eligibility
