What is the role where you can add value?
Process Engineer:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Process Engineer to support and optimize manufacturing operations for flexible packaging products. This role is responsible for improving production efficiency, reducing waste, troubleshooting process issues, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across printing, laminating, coating, extrusion, slitting, and pouch-making operations.
What will you do?
·Develop, optimize, and maintain manufacturing processes for flexible packaging production.
·Monitor and improve process performance related to quality, throughput, scrap reduction, and machine efficiency.
·Troubleshoot production issues involving printing, lamination, extrusion, coating, slitting, or converting equipment.
·Analyze production data and implement corrective and preventive actions.
·Lead continuous improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis methodologies.
·Collaborate with operations, maintenance, quality, R&D, and supply chain teams to improve product consistency and operational performance.
·Support new product launches, material trials, and equipment qualifications.
·Establish and maintain process parameters, SOPs, and work instructions.
·Evaluate raw materials, adhesives, films, inks, and substrates for compatibility and performance.
·Ensure compliance with safety, food safety, environmental, and customer requirements.
·Assist with capital projects, equipment upgrades, and automation initiatives.
·Train operators and production staff on process improvements and best practices.
·Participate in customer and supplier technical discussions as needed.
What skills do you need?
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in flexible packaging or converting manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of flexible packaging processes such as:
- Flexographic or rotogravure printing
- Extrusion coating/lamination
- Adhesive lamination
- Slitting and rewinding
- Experience with process optimization and troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing data systems.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or statistical process control (SPC).
- Knowledge of food-grade packaging standards and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with polymer science, film structures, and barrier materials.
- Experience with ERP/MES systems.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent certification.
The compensation range for this position is $65,000 to $75,000 plus bonus
