Qualifications:
- Expertise in materials/process engineering: epoxy, solder, metallization, ceramics in laser products
- Experience with manual and automated component attach methods, particularly where high accuracy placement and/or active alignment is required (Diebond/Wirebond/Reflow experience)
- Familiar with six-sigma techniques, e.g., design for manufacturability/reliability (DFx), SPC, GR&R
- Experience of using MRSI, Ficontec machine as a plus
- Knowledge of optics, optical design, tolerance analysis as a plus
- Experience with high-power semiconductor laser devices as a plus
- Experience in conceptual design layout, vendor interaction, package prototyping, testing, and performance characterization
- Education should be MS/PhD in optical, electrical, physical engineering or equivalent with 8+ years’ experience in optoelectronics
Key Responsibilities:
- Process development of chip, lens, fiber and other components using solder and/or epoxy.
- Work closely with team members on conceptual design layout, vendor interaction, package prototyping, testing, and performance characterization
- Contributes to failure mode analysis (FMA) and qualification of productPerform data analysis utilizing DOE, SPC, and FMEA tools regularly throughout product life cycle
- Generates BOMs, assembly work instructions and engineering reports for new processes/products
- Transfers processes to manufacturing site primarily in Asia
- Plan and execute on schemes to improve product yield and reliability
- Recommends and executes qualification tests for new processes/components
