Regeneron is currently seeking a Process Characterization and Technology Engineer for our Process Sciences Downstream Sciences team with a focus on Process Microbiology. This is a lab-based position with a Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm schedule with occasional off-shift/weekend work. Process Sciences is a technical services department that deals with a range of scientific, technical, engineering and mathematical needs from the laboratory to the manufacturing floor. Process Characterization and Technology Engineers will lead and execute lab-based studies to characterize manufacturing operations and/or technology. This position may support all phases of projects from research and feasibility studies through implementation into commercial manufacturing processes.

In this role, a typical day might include the following:

  • Apply engineering principles to design, execute, document, and present on small-scale experiments to improve process knowledge on cell culture, chromatographic, or filtration processes.
  • Develop a fundamental understanding of microbiological impacts to the manufacturing processes.
  • Support digitization and data integrity initiatives by collaborating on an electronic laboratory notebook system.
  • Identify, develop, and implement best in class technologies for microbiological detection and characterization in manufacturing.
  • Perform microbial related lab testing including bioburden and endotoxin assays.
  • Support laboratory activities (buffer preparation, instrument calibration, etc.).
  • Analyze data using a combination of statistics, engineering principles, and other techniques to gain insights into manufacturing process performance and control.
  • Apply engineering knowledge in support of process troubleshooting and risk assessment.
  • Automate laboratory processes and data analysis.
  • Review technical documents and reports for content, formatting, and data consistency prior to document approval.
  • Present study findings at intra- and interdepartmental meetings.
  • Support and participate in laboratory safety/compliance/data integrity evaluations.

This role might be for you if you:

  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced biopharmaceutical laboratory environment to support the manufacturing of medicines that address serious diseases in a cGxP setting.
  • Are detail oriented, quality driven, and well organized.
  • Have the dedication to balance multiple projects, prioritize them and complete them independently, while excelling at keeping all impacted parties well advised.
  • Can take on new and sometimes ambiguous challenges, learn quickly, and train others.
  • Enjoy working in both a team environment and individually contributing to dynamic projects and authoring technical reports.
  • Can develop and drive scientific and/or business-related improvement ideas.
  • Understand antibody manufacturing processes.
  • Taking on Big Ideas, Making it Happen, Being Great Together, and Doing What’s Right – acting with integrity and empathy along the way, because it’s not just what you do, but also how you do it that matters
  • Have a solid understanding of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
