About you and this Role
Dow is seeking a Process Automation Lead to join our Light Hydrocarbon Improvement group supporting one of the Texas Operations Olefin plants, TX-9.
TX-9 (Oyster Creek, TX Site): Started up in 2017 as a part of the Gulfstream Program, TX-9 is one of the largest ethane crackers in the world and provides strategic, low-cost ethylene and co-products to downstream derivative businesses and external customers.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Process Control (ABB), Advanced Process Control (APC), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and automated reporting.
- Improve our proprietary process automation technology.
- Coordinate and support daily activities for improving our process automation performance.
- Coordinates all process automation related activities and resources.
- Responsible for developing and implementing the most effective technology and/or best practices.
- Participate in Global Networks to identify and develop new technology for the business.
- Participate in project development and execution to improve our work process.
- Serves as the subject matter expert for work execution, tools and systems supporting and interfacing in the space of Production Operations Management.
- Design and implement process graphics, interlocks, alarms, and state-based control.
- Develop, test and commission automation software and operator interface software to meet design criteria for projects and improvements.
- Train operations and other staff on process automation.
- Optimize plant automation to maximize plant safety, reliability, and profitability.
- Participate regularly on multi-functional teams to develop innovative automation solutions.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Software Engineering is required.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in process automation, engineering, manufacturing, or related experience.
- Knowledgeable with ABB.
- Experience in hydrocarbons cracker manufacturing technologies.
- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

- Project Management: This skill is crucial for developing and implementing technology, participating in global networks, and executing projects to improve work processes.
- Continual Improvement Process: Improving proprietary process automation technology and participating in project development and execution to enhance work processes align with continual improvement practices.
- Workflow Process: Coordinating and supporting daily activities for improving process automation performance involves managing and optimizing workflow processes.
- Process Safety: Designing and implementing process graphics, interlocks, alarms, and state-based control to ensure plant safety aligns with process safety practices.
- Data Analysis: Developing, testing, and commissioning automation software and operator interface software, as well as creating automated reporting systems, involve data analysis skills.
- Leadership: Managing workload and ensuring quality deliverables of process automation team.
