The PositionProcess and Energy Engineering Manager

Job Summary

Job Title: Process and Energy Engineering Manager

Location: Home based, Atlanta area preferred, within the Southeast (near a major airport)

Travel Requirement: 50% travel within North America

Role Responsibilities:

  • Managing multi-site energy & CO2 reduction programs (reporting requirements, energy assessments, site support)

  • Manage government programs focused on energy reduction and decarbonization in North America.

  • The identification, conceptual engineering and analysis of energy efficiency projects in large industrial sites are essential tasks.

  • Focusing specifically on the energy intensive equipment and processes, kilns, dryers, industrial boilers, steam systems, compressed air, power generation, CHP, heat recovery, and renewable technologies

  • Working closely with other functions such as Engineering to develop energy/CO2 reduction project pipeline

  • Interface with Group Climate Change functions and represent PMA NA in various workstreams

Key Focus Areas:

  • Program Management (Budget, Resources, Value Delivery of multi-year plan)

  • Energy project development (pipeline) that deliver a step-change in meeting Net-Zero Carbon emissions targets

  • Industrial site and Capacity Data Analysis / Report Writing

  • Site Metering, Software and Telemetry

  • Engineering Solutions, Energy Modelling

  • Manage and oversee Site Energy Surveys, Assessments, Project Management

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage all Energy and C02 reporting requirements including Energy Efficiency, CO2 emissions and key projects to realize reduction targets

  • Manage and coordinate a major energy reduction program including a multi- site energy assessment program

  • Partner with Engineering team and Regional Directors to develop CO2 reduction project pipeline (3-5 years)

  • Provide technical input to projects and support the achievement of deliverables to time and to budget

  • Provide technical support to a range of projects across the key areas of focus set out above.

  • Partner with other staff across all functions and collaborating companies to ensure progress of projects and timely delivery of agreed outputs

  • Support the preparation of proposals for new projects.

  • Provide progress reports and updates to operations management and on project delivery to project managers

  • Manage government programs focused on energy reduction and decarbonization in North America

  • Represent North America Business Area (BA) in Group Climate Change Initiatives and Workstreams (Paris)

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Chemical or Minerals Engineering Preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years experience of industrial energy management, sustainability/net zero program development, process optimization and process engineering.

  • In-depth and proven knowledge of industrial energy intensive processes including high-temperature kilns, dryers, industrial boilers, steam systems, compressed air, power generation, CHP, heat recovery and renewable technologies is required.

  • Interest in Climate Change, Energy Management and Sustainability is essential. Facilities experience and process knowledge in energy-intensive sectors such as mining and industrial minerals, chemical processing and FMCG, etc. (required)

  • Preferred: PE or Chartered Engineer / Post Graduate Certificate in Energy Management or Environmental Sustainability

  • Approximately 50% travel within North America
