GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

Takes x-rays of patients, following physician’s orders and established procedures for patient safety and protection.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Takes x-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety.
  • Knowledge and application of radiology guidelines.
  • Work with physician staff to ensure quality patient care and services are provided.  Ensure compliance with clinic standards and OSHA regulations of quality patient care.  This includes being available to answer medical questions for clinic and administrative staff.
  • Prepares patients for radiological procedures.
  • Processes radiology images.
  • Send x-rays to PACS by physician for reading and interpretation.
  • Ensures radiology equipment is in good working condition and reports malfunction to the Radiation Safety Officer.
  • Cooperates with inspections and compliance for radiology equipment and area.
  • Maintains adequate supplies for radiology services.
  • Assists with patient flow through clinic including rooming patients.
  • Follow job duties for clinic technician when needed in that capacity.
  • Responsible for knowing and applying doctor’s specific guidelines.
  • Maintains supplies and restocks rooms on prescribed schedule.
  • All other duties as assigned. 

Special Skills:

  • Knowledge of governmental regulations and compliance requirements, including OSHA regulations.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and applications.

Physical Demands:


  • Ability to walk frequently and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to assist patients weighing up to 300 pounds.
  • Must have full range of motion.
  • Must have adequate visual acuity to read, the ability to interpret and understand written material.
  • Must have adequate hearing and speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others, including patients and co-workers.

 

Environmental Working Conditions:

  • Clinic setting.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, radiation and bodily fluids.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • ARRT or LMRT; ARRT preferred

Experience: One year experience in a health care setting; preferably orthopedics

Licensure: Radiological Certification

Skills Required

  • High School diploma or GED
  • ARRT or LMRT certification; ARRT preferred
  • One year experience in a healthcare setting, preferably orthopedics
