The Role:

Blue Owl Japan is seeking a Vice President to join its Private Wealth team. This is a senior client-facing role for an experienced professional with deep expertise in financial services and a proven ability to drive strategic growth. The VP will lead distributor engagement, cultivate high-value relationships, and serve as a trusted advisor on private markets and alternative investments. This individual will play a critical role in expanding Blue Owl’s presence in Japan and delivering best-in-class solutions to our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive business development and revenue growth by building and deepening relationships with senior stakeholders at key distributors.

  • Represent Blue Owl as a subject matter expert in private markets, delivering thought leadership and positioning the firm as a preferred partner.

  • Conduct high-impact meetings, presentations, and teach-ins with distributors and investors; frequent domestic travel required.

  • Partner closely with Marketing, Client Solutions, Legal & Compliance, and Product Strategy to execute strategic initiatives and ensure seamless client experience.

  • Oversee sales activity and performance metrics across assigned distributors, ensuring consistent engagement and accountability.

  • Maintain deep knowledge of Blue Owl’s offerings and the competitive landscape to provide tailored solutions and insights to clients.

  • Identify opportunities for market growth and contribute to long-term distribution strategy in Japan.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8-10+ years in asset management, private markets, or alternative investments; strong track

  • record in sales and relationship management.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; CFA, CAIA, or MBA strongly preferred.

  • Native-level Japanese and fluent English communication skills.

  • Exceptional presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills; strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

  • Highly motivated, proactive, and independent with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.

  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and operate at a strategic level.

  • Willingness to work non-standard hours to coordinate with global teams.
