What you’ll be doing

Reporting to Executive Director, Private Wealth Management Training & Development, the Learning Consultant is responsible for contributing to the strategic direction of the Training and Practice Management programs and content for CIBC Private Wealth. The Learning Consultant will support the design and development for a variety of training and performance solutions, and manage development activities for related projects that are aligned with Private Wealth strategies and are aimed at enhancing the capabilities of employees and managers supporting a client-centric environment.

The primary focus of this role will be to develop solutions based on training objectives, job-specific procedures/activities, and measures of success. To function effectively, the Learning Consultant/Developer must have excellent technical, communication, and writing skills, the ability to manage multiple and competing deliverables, and experience developing content for adult learners in a variety of formats, including e-learning, self-guided and instructor-led. The Learning Consultant/Developer will work closely with the Senior Consultants as well as other team members and, business partners.  The candidate will also harness technology, implement guidelines, and processes, which will drive the quality of our design, development, and technology deliverables.

How you’ll succeed

  • Develop a range of training solutions- Using a variety of methodologies and media to suit multiple learning styles and to achieve training objectives to design effective layouts, construct creative training activities, and build prototypes for e-learning, instructor-led and self-directed training.   Work with the Senior Consultant and Subject Matter Experts to achieve a comprehensive understanding of the perceived training needs or gaps, assist in the preparation of needs assessments, e.g., by writing surveys/questionnaires, gathering data, summarizing data, identifying performance gaps, etc. and contribute to recommendations for appropriate training or performance support vehicles to meet requirements.
  • Ensure T&D processes and standards are followed on specific projects- Proactively look for opportunities to improve efficiencies.  Ensure continuous adherence to quality assurance and version control processes.  Contribute to the maintenance, continuous improvement, and refinement of the processes, methodology and standards for content development. Make recommendations for leveraging and repurposing existing T&D content, and develop new content in ways that minimize future maintenance and duplication of effort.  Keep up to date in specialized knowledge, including specifically the subject areas of: development tools, adult learning principles, writing techniques, e-learning technologies, PW etc., and share this knowledge with the team.
  • Deliver high-quality training solutions- Manage work effort to meet project deadlines for multiple and competing deliverables.  Collaborate with Senior Consultants, and other team members to prepare for effective implementation of training programs. Participate in monitoring initial delivery of e-learning and self-guided solutions to ensure their effectiveness.  Collaborate with the team on the development of measurement tools for new initiatives.  Monitor the results of training programs, and implement updates to improve upon content and layout.
  • Gather and share relevant information within Training & Development teams- Liaise with vendors on course content, materials, etc., as required for specific projects.  Update project plans and/or Senior Consultants with status of all deliverables.  Proactively identify and escalate issues that may impact project milestones or deliverables, and recommend a solution, where appropriate.  Actively participate in and promote teamwork and team-building activities.

Who You Are

  • You’re a certified professional.  You have an Undergraduate degree in a related eLearning instructional content, development or delivery field or university degree in adult education. 
  • You can demonstrate recent experience with a combination of adult learning instructional design and eLearning development, as well as, recent experience working with subject matter experts to convert existing curriculum content to an eLearning format an asset.  You have extensive experience using Microsoft Office software products and developing successful e-learning, instructor-led and self-guided training materials.. You have project management skills and comprehensive writing skills and experience with a variety of writing styles. 
  • You're digitally savvy. You seek out innovative solutions and embrace evolving technologies. You can easily adapt to new tools and trends. Comprehensive knowledge of information design principles   and with e-learning authoring tools and training simulation software such as Articulate360, Captivate, Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro)
  • You act like an owner. You thrive when you're empowered to take initiative, go above and beyond, and deliver results.  You have a high degree of initiative, self-organization and self-management skills needed, in order to work with minimal direction and the ability to work independently with flexibility.
