PATH is seeking to recruit a highly skilled and experienced Private Sector Technical Advisor to facilitate collaboration between the public and private sectors to ensure the provision of affordable, quality, and sustainable health care services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems strengthening in both the public and private health sectors, with expertise in technical areas relevant to health service areas including Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, Nutrition, Family Planning, Malaria, Global Health Security.

The position will work closely to forge collaborations and establish partnerships with the private sector at national and sub-national levels for augmenting government efforts in the operationalization of urban primary health care facilities across project geographies. The position will be responsible for liaising with private sector counterparts and leveraging resources for supplementing the Urban Health program and will report to the Deputy Chief of Party.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Landscape and assess areas of partnerships as per the needs and requirements of the project.
  • Landscape different stakeholders and partners working in urban health within private sector.
  • Conduct market analysis and research to identify opportunities for private sector involvement in health care service delivery and potential areas for innovation and investment.
  • Work across private, public, and technical sectors to facilitate the identification of synergies and opportunities for creative new partnerships.
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to public and private health sector stakeholders on best practices in health care service delivery, including health financing and resource mobilization.
  • Lead capacity building initiatives for private sector partners to enhance their referral systems with public health entities to ensure high-quality, sustainable service delivery.
  • Develop and execute partnership strategies to achieve agreed objectives and mobilize resources towards fulfilling the aim of Urban Health Program.
  • Innovate different market-based solutions to address the needs and challenges of delivering effective comprehensive primary health care.
  • Coordinate with partners implementing different models and ensure desired results are achieved.
  • Collaborate with the public and private sectors to develop public-private partnership (PPP) models.
  • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to track the impact and effectiveness of private sector engagement initiatives in health care service delivery. 
  • Lead the monitoring and evaluation of different models and generate evidence for further advocacy with the Government for scaling up of models.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and regulations that promote private sector engagement in health care service delivery.
  • Develop and execute strategies for resource mobilization for comprehensive primary health care from the corporate and private sector through the Corporate Social Responsibility mechanisms.
  • Responsible for mobilizing/ leveraging resources for the project.
  • Support documentation of project results, successes, challenges, and lessons learned.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and learning exchanges between public and private health sector stakeholders to promote cross-sectoral collaboration and innovation in health care delivery.
  • Work with the MEL team to establish systems for tracking progress, indicators, and deliverables according to agreed work plans to ensure state and donor requirements are met.
  • Represent the Urban Heath Consortium at national and sub-national-level meetings involving government, development partners, and private sector representatives. Liaise with other partners working in primary healthcare.
  • Travel within the district or national level as per the project and organizational requirements.
  • Lead on providing updates related to the private sector activities in USAID deliverables (quarterly and annual reports, success stories, etc.).
  • Perform other activities, as assigned by the supervisor to achieve organizational goals.

 Qualifications and Experience

  • Master's degree in public health, health administration, business administration, or a related field.
  • 8 -10 years of experience of working with national/international NGOs in public health programs.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in roles involving private sector engagement in health care in low- and middle-income countries.
  • Experience in private sector engagement or working in a PPP role.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in managing multiple partners and leveraging resources from the private sector/corporate sector.
  • Demonstrated expertise in technical areas relevant to health care service delivery, such as health care financing and health systems strengthening.
  • Proven track record of successfully facilitating collaboration between the public and private health sectors to achieve common health care goals.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to conduct market analysis, policy analysis, and impact assessments in the health care sector.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders in the health sector.
  • Fluency in English required, proficiency in additional languages preferred/
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Experience working in a USAID-funded program is desirable.
  • Technical knowledge and field experience in handling large-scale and multi-stakeholder public health programs.
