We are seeking a Private Markets Risk Associate to support the Firm Risk team within the Investment Management Risk Department, based in Budapest. The team is dedicated to providing oversight and governance of risks arising from the Firm's Investment Management business activities. The successful candidate will be based in Budapest and support independent Second Line of Defense risk coverage of the Firm's Private markets investment offerings across regions.

In the Firm Risk Management division, we advise businesses across the Firm on risk mitigation strategies, develop tools to analyse and monitor risks and lead key regulatory initiatives.

What you'll do in the role:

  • Conduct risk and valuation analysis on underlying assets within a set of portfolios with focus on private markets and related product

  • Design and develop appropriate risk tools and analysis across the fiduciary platform and tailored analysis for individual business mandates, including concentration and scenario analysis, and monitoring of investment risk, credit risk, liquidity risk, counterparty risk, and sustainability risk

  • Production and analysis of risk indicators and reports. Contribute to the continuous enhancement of risk and valuation control toolset and management reporting, to improve identification and escalation of risks

  • Periodic review and validation of models, tools, policies and procedures used for the risk management of illiquid alternative asset classes

  • Track updates related to industry developments and trends, as well as changes in relevant local laws/regulations, and assess their implications and potential impact on portfolios/investments

  • Contribute to Firmwide or special projects around the risk framework and key risk factors & technical enhancements, exhibiting innovative approach to problem solving

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Bachelor's degree in economics, finance, risk management or quantitative field. Advanced degree a plus

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of work experience preferred in the financial services industry, particularly in private markets asset management/Private Equity

  • Strong fundamental understanding of the asset management business, focusing on illiquid alternative products

  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills, with ability to explain complex financial concepts

  • Knowledge of key risk and valuation drivers for a diverse set of private alternative asset classes, including real estate, private equity, infrastructure, debt (senior, mezzanine, junior capital), and structured credit (CMBS, CLO)

  • Strong quantitative and financial modeling skills utilizing tools such as advanced MS Excel, Python, and strong working knowledge of MS Word and PowerPoint

  • Technical knowledge of financial markets and products as well as related valuation and risk models (e.g., Multiple Approach, DCF, VaR, cash flow sensitivities, stress testing)

Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, risk management, or a quantitative field
  • Three to five years of work experience in financial services, preferably private markets asset management or private equity
  • Strong understanding of the asset management business and illiquid alternative products
