IonQ’s computers will soon redefine industries like medicine, materials science, finance, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cryptography, and more. IonQ is at the forefront of this technological revolution.

We are looking for a Principal Solutions Architect to support our growth in Europe. As a Principal Solutions Architect, you’ll be part of a cross-functional team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to build the world’s best quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems.

Join a nimble team of scientists, engineers, marketers, business developers, and product managers to drive an entirely new quantum computing business. We’re seeking versatile engineers and architects skilled in technical sales, technical demos and customer interactions who feel energized to deliver IonQ’s quantum computing products and quantum applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspire prospective clients by explaining IonQ’s roadmap and answering technical questions about quantum computers and quantum applications (you will receive training on the job, specific to trapped-ion systems, as needed).
  • Lead client discussions, inspiring them to see how quantum applications can be implemented in their HCLS business domain.
  • Translate business needs expressed by our clients into technical proposals in collaboration with other team members.
  • Create sales assets such as slides to explain features of our quantum applications and other IonQ quantum products.
  • Create thought leadership assets that resonate with HCLS practitioners.
  • Share insights from clients with the hardware and applications team, so client feedback is incorporated into our products.
  • Participate within the sales team with driving prospects down the sales funnel.
  • Lead developing a pipeline of opportunities for IonQ’s quantum computers and quantum applications within the HCLS domain.
  • Lead client workshops to inspire quantum computing engagements and new quantum use case ideas.
  • Partner with marketing, developer relations and business development to grow the IonQ footprint.
  • Attend industry conferences, as needed, to talk to clients and support our booth activities.
  • Speak at industry conferences to showcase IonQ success stories.
  • Some travel is expected (up to 40%) and opportunities for global travel are available for client meetings and IonQ conference activities.
  • This is a non-commission technical sales role.

You’d be a good fit with:

  • 10+ years of experience in technical sales or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • 10+ years of focused HCLS experience.
  • Master's degree or above in STEM field, such as chemistry or physics as related to HCLS.
  • Motivated learner with a strong interest in quantum computing.
  • Excellent communicator able to concisely explain technical solutions and meet the client at their level of understanding to inspire.

You’d be a great fit with:

  • PhD in a STEM field applicable to HCLS.
  • Demonstrated study in quantum computing.
  • Hands-on experience with Qiskit, Cirq or other quantum computing SDK.
  • Proficient in HPC.
  • Proficient in Python and Jupyter Notebooks.
  • Expert Solution Architect across various technologies.
  • Experience leading technical events.

What We Do

Quantum computers are a revolutionizing technology — they have the potential to transform business, society, and the planet for the better, and IonQ is at the forefront of this revolution.

After over 25 years of academic research, IonQ was founded in 2015 by Chris Monroe and Jungsang Kim with $2 million in seed funding from New Enterprise Associates, a license to core technology from the University of Maryland and Duke University, and the goal of taking trapped ion quantum computing out of the lab and into the market. In the following three years, we raised an additional $20 million from GV, Amazon Web Services, and NEA, and built two of the world’s most accurate quantum computers.

In 2019, we raised another $55 million in a round led by Samsung and Mubadala, and announced partnerships with Microsoft and Amazon Web Services to make our quantum computers available via the cloud.

In 2020 and 2021, we built additional generations of high performance quantum hardware, added Google Cloud Marketplace to our cloud partner roster and announced a series of collaborations and business partnerships with leading academic and commercial institutions.

On October 1st, 2021, IonQ began trading as IONQ on the New York Stock Exchange, making it the world's first public pure-play quantum computing company. We remain hard at work realizing the world-changing potential of quantum computing.

Why Work With Us

We’re growing a passionate, diverse team of collaborative, creative people. We believe in pursuing innovative, challenging work with integrity, alongside team members we can learn from and grow with.
