The Principle Scientist LNP Innovation role at Lonza in Geleen, Netherlands, offers an outstanding opportunity to lead groundbreaking research in lipid nanoparticle (LNP) technology. As part of our dedicated team, you will be at the forefront of innovative solutions that significantly impact the life sciences industry. Key responsibilities:
- Design advanced experimental plans, lead the execution, data evaluation, write and review high quality reports
- Lead multi-disciplinary matrix teams on complex projects in the area of scientific expertise. Lead problem solving and lessons learned activities
- Provide strong scientific, technical and regulatory leadership and for individual scientists and lab technicians on complex projects
- Assess novel technologies on paper and experimentally, also in exchange with external partners
- Perform scale-up of promising technology to support implementation in the LNP manufacturing platform
- Provide solutions to identified risks, issues, problems. Report issues in a timely fashion.
- Act as a deputy of the team manager when needed
- Facilitate improvements to departmental business processes and contribute to the implementation of innovative technologies
- Demonstrate flexibility to support other activities within the department
- Proactive approach to own continuous professional development
Key requirements:
- PhD. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or related field (e.g bioengineering, chemical engineering)
- Experience and strong hands-on power in encapsulation development for biomolecules, with preferred experience with mRNA formulation in lipid nanoparticles
- Experience required in scaling-up of encapsulation and downstream processing by TFF
- Desirable experience in conjugation of targeting moieties to LNP and their characterization
- Expert-level experience & understanding of handling, purification and processing of biomolecules.
- Experience with a wide range of analytical techniques for LNP characterization
- Demonstrated ability to efficiently work in a fast paced and fluid environment, changes in priority and timeline restrictions
