Summary: Responsible for the overall operation and performance of Paint Creek Academy’s educational program. 

Essential Functions: 

  1. Maintains the integrity of the educational program; ensures the safety and well-being of students and faculty. 
  2. Develops continuous improvement curriculum and maintains individual educational outcomes of all clients. 
  3. Assumes responsibility for acting on student complaints and managing faculty responses to crisis events at the school. 
  4. Manages the recruiting, onboarding, training and development of employees. 
  5. Handles performance management and employee relations issues with support of HR. 
  6. Implements and enforces system, policies and procedures in accordance with agency, charter school statutes, federal, state, and local guidelines.
  7. Assumes responsibility and authority for intake of students in school and monitoring student progress and transition planning. 
  8. Develops/maintains student code of conduct consistent with Lighthouse Youth & Family Services philosophy. 
  9. Creates and maintains yearly school calendar, coordinates school events, and works closely with the overall goals of the Paint Creek treatment program to support positive outcomes for clients individualized needs. 
  10. Responsible for coordinating, monitoring, reviewing and approving the timely compliance of all educational reports including Individualized Educational Plans (IEPS), report card and evaluation of students for special education services. 
  11. Works closely with outside agencies, educational resource systems, parents, and natural support to ensure each student obtains the maximum amount of support possible to achieve educational goals. 
  12. Assures services are provided in a cost efficient manner; works within annual budget for school; maintains inventory control; approves expenditures for school program. 
  13. Ensures educational facility is in good repair, citation free, clean, and attractive. 
  14. Provides and maintains quality documentation, records, reports and evaluations per agency standards.
  15. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and training opportunities.
  16. Supports change initiatives within service area and/or across the agency.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has supervisory responsibilities for the assigned faculty and students/clients.

Work Environment: Paint Creek Academy operates within a professional residential setting compound which houses youth from the ages of 14-20 years old. The work environment will depend on the program. This role has hybrid work options which involve both remote and in-office work. Specific in-office days will be determined in coordination with the team and the needs of the business.  This can change or be altered by the manager at any time. The position is exposed to a physically challenging environment, which may include exposure to bloodborne and airborne pathogens, physical assault, verbal assault, loud noises, prolonged sitting, restricted movement outside the facility, and highly stressful and hazardous situations. 

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is required to stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: Hours will be worked within standard hours of operation for assigned service area program.

Travel: This position will be stationed at Paint Creek academy however; minimal travel is expected.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree. 
  2. Valid Principal License. 

Preferred Education and Experience: 

  1. Experience working with SBH student population.
  2. Experience working with students that have special education needs.
  3. Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  1. Good driving record
  2. CPR / First Aid certified (company provided) 
  3. Handle with Care certification (company provided) 
  4. Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
  5. Demonstrated computer proficiency

Skills Required

  • Master's Degree in Education
  • Valid Principal License
  • Experience working with SBH student population
  • Experience working with special education needs
  • Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with diverse backgrounds
