The Awardco Product and Engineering team is growing! We’re looking for a Principal User Experience Designer to join our team. The vision of this role is to enable millions of people around the world to be recognized for the good work they are doing for their company. Our team focuses on making employee recognition and points redemption a more mainstream, easier, and delightful experience for companies who care about their employees' accomplishments.
As a Principal UX Designer at Awardco, you will play a critical role in leading user experience strategy, ensuring our platform is user-friendly, engaging, and aligned with company goals. You will be Awardco’s highest level of individual UX contributor, a leader on a talented design team, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. You will guide the UX team towards the company's vision and initiatives across product groups, lead larger company initiatives related to UX, and advocate for best UX practices to strengthen our competitive edge.
What you will do:
- Lead Product Initiatives:
- Collaborate with Product Managers and Tech Leads to execute product initiatives on a cross-functional team.
- Define and drive the UX vision, strategy, and roadmap for our products, ensuring alignment with business objectives and user needs.
- Enhance and maintain design systems, documentation, and guidelines to ensure consistency and scalability across all products.
- Mentorship and Leadership:
- Mentor and guide UX designers, fostering a fun, collaborative and innovative design culture.
- Provide feedback and support to ensure high-quality design outputs.
- Assist UX leadership in hiring top industry talent and leading department and team training sessions.
- Cross-Team Continuity:
- Advocate for cross-team continuity in design, ensuring cohesive user experiences across the platform.
- Promote the value of user-centered design and foster a user-first mindset within the company.
- Lead department and team trainings on UX related topics and initiatives
- Facilitate design critiques and feedback sessions to reinforce team alignment to the design system.
- Research and Process:
- Conduct and oversee user research activities to gain deep insights into user behaviors, needs, and pain points.
- Create wireframes, high-fidelity designs, and prototypes; conduct usability testing to validate design concepts and iterate based on feedback.
- Translate research findings into actionable design solutions.
What you will bring:
- 8 to 10+ years of experience in UX design, with a proven track record of leading and delivering successful design projects.
- Experience in a senior or principal design role is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate and defend design decisions.
- Strong mentorship abilities and business acumen.
- Experience shipping products, preferably SaaS.
- Cross-platform design experience (Web, Android, iOS).
- Proficiency in designing and prototyping complex solutions in Figma.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with data-driven research, user, and usability testing skills.
- Front-end engineering experience is a plus.
