CMT is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Principal Technical Program Manager to independently lead broad cross-organization efforts from the early stages through release. You will be responsible for coordinating the release activity and assembly for all CMT product lines. Our products are central to our mission, supporting safer drivers and safer roads by integrating seamlessly with a wide range of applications and services. Your leadership will ensure the timely and efficient delivery of our technology to partners and customers, impacting and enhancing safety on a global scale. 

You will be responsible for influencing organization roadmap priorities, system owners, team composition, and technical direction. You will represent difficult trade-off decisions and debates clearly to senior leaders to help them understand options. You will be able to identify when a solution requires additional technical guidance or unlocks powerful capabilities. You will manage cross-functional and cross-organization communication to ensure all stakeholders are informed, and needs are aligned. You will guide the technical direction to deliver solutions that meet CMT’s high standards for customer satisfaction, efficiency, stability, extensibility, simplicity, and operational excellence. 

CMT is looking for a Principal Technical Program Manager I to help us change the world. CMT has helped protect over 65 million drivers and prevent over 126,000 crashes worldwide. Responsibilities: 

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules 
  • Strategically lead the planning, scheduling, and execution of project timelines and milestones for CMT product releases, ensuring alignment with company-wide strategic objectives 
  • Champion cross-functional collaboration among senior leaders within software engineering, product management, and customer success teams to ensure seamless and efficient release processes at a strategic level 
  • Architect and advocate for advanced release management procedures and best practices to enhance efficiency, quality, and scalability of releases across the organization 
  • Provide executive-level coordination with internal and external stakeholders to synchronize product release plans with overarching product roadmaps and strategic goals 
  • Oversee risk management strategies and resolution processes that affect release scope, schedule, and quality, ensuring robust contingency planning 
  • Serve as a primary communication liaison with senior management, external partners, and stakeholders, offering high-level updates, strategic insights, and solutions related to product releases
  • Lead compliance and security strategy throughout the release process, ensuring adherence to legal, regulatory, and security requirements at an organizational level 
  • Spearhead initiatives to continuously assess, innovate, and enhance the release process, supporting the rapid and safe deployment of new features and updates, while fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
  • Complete any additional tasks as they arise 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience and/or certification in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field 
  • 7+ years of technical product or program management experience, and experience working directly with engineering teams 
  • 5+ years of software development experience 
  • 7+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience
  • Expertise in software development lifecycles, agile methodologies, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes at a strategic level 
  • Exceptional leadership qualities, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and guide senior teams towards achieving strategic objectives 
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, leading cross-functional senior teams and navigating complex organizational structures
  • Advanced experience with mobile technologies and platforms, with a strong understanding of the technical and market dynamics of the mobile ecosystem 
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills, coupled with an intense focus on quality and detail 
  • Proven capability to communicate complex technical and strategic concepts to a range of audiences, including executive leadership

Nice to Haves: 

  • Master's degree 
  • Experience translating customer requirements or contractual commitments into coordinated engineering, product, and delivery plans 
  • Experience driving cross-functional programs across machine learning, software engineering, product management, and customer-facing teams 
  • Familiarity with ML- or data-driven product development, including model readiness, data dependencies, experimentation, and operational rollout 
  • Experience building scalable program governance processes, including intake, prioritization, dependency management, and executive risk reporting 
  • Experience delivering complex technical initiatives with external stakeholders, including milestone tracking, status communication, and scope management 
  • Experience operating in compliance-, security-, or policy-sensitive technical environments
  • Demonstrated success leading distributed teams across time zones and organizational boundaries
  • Strong written communication skills for executive updates, customer reviews, and program decision-making

Compensation and Benefits: 

  • Fair and competitive salary based on skills and experience, and annual performance bonus

Base Salary Range

  • The base salary range for this position is: $124,000 to $155,000. This range is specifically for Cambridge, MA
