That’s why we’ve been distributed from the start: initially between offices in Boston & Santa Barbara, and now with additional offices around the globe. This role can be done from any of our offices across the United States or remotely from home. It’s about impact, not location.

The Principal, Talent Strategy, will play a critical role in designing and implementing a talent strategy that delivers on Sonos’ strategic goals and aligns with our corporate transformation efforts. Through partnership with the People Leadership Team and functional business leaders, this role will drive people centric initiatives that combine people analytics, talent planning, employee development, and engagement to implement talent solutions that deliver on our business objectives, raise the bar for performance, and enhance employee experience.

What You’ll Do:

Talent Strategy Development

  • Lead a cross-functional team responsible for the execution of the new talent strategy, including People Operations, People Partners, Analytics and DEI.

  • Upskill leaders and managers to support the new talent strategy and other talent practices. Create and deliver content, and/or partner with external providers to close identified skill gaps

  • Be informed and leverage industry best practice and benchmarks to guide strategy development

Change Management

  • Create and lead the change management, project management and stakeholder management plans for the new talent strategy to ensure maximum adoption with our leaders and the employee population.

  • Bring a global perspective to the talent strategy that takes into consideration regional compliance and regulatory requirements and cultural nuances.

  • In partnership with the People Leadership Team, implement a sustainable promotion process including leveling guidelines, advancement criteria and how it is supported by the new talent strategy.

Data Analytics

  • Utilize metrics and data to evaluate the effectiveness of the talent strategy components

  • Leverage data to provide recommendations to the People Leadership Team regarding strategic shifts in our approach to talent development

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in HR, talent management, HR business partner or learning and development

  • Experience with various components of a talent strategy (i.e. workforce planning, talent assessment/review, succession planning, etc.)

  • Experience working across multiple geographic regions

  • Experience working with stakeholders across all levels of the organization, including the executive team

  • Experience in change management methodologies

  • Experience in project management and managing multiple projects simultaneously

  • Availability across time zones to effectively work in a global environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal effectiveness and communication skills (written and oral)

  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Creative problem solver; naturally curious and can quickly research issues

  • Can successfully deal with a fast-paced environment with competing priorities across multiple stakeholder groups

  • Ownership and the ability to find solutions and a path forward even in ambiguous situations

  • Able to analyze information to find trends or diagnose problem areas
