Epirus is a high-growth technology company dedicated to overcoming the asymmetric challenges inherent to the future of national security. Epirus' flagship product, Leonidas, is a software-defined system built using intelligent power management techniques which allow power-hungry systems to do more with less.
Job Summary: This is an exciting role in an innovative company. The Systems Engineer – I&T role is for an engineer with demonstrated experience leading complex electro-mechanical systems through integration and test. This includes work throughout the development lifecycle, from contributing to requirements development at the system, subsystem, and component levels, creating test plans, specifying test station hardware and software needs, leading the development of new test stations/procedures and hand-off to manufacturing/test engineers, analyzing test results, debugging unexpected issues, and ultimately final sell-off of products before customer delivery. The Systems Engineer – I&T role will require familiarity with the entire system, including electrical, mechanical, digital, and software subsystems. The Systems Engineer – I&T role will coordinate with hardware design engineers and software engineers to ensure design details are aligned and components will integrate to meet system-level needs. The Systems Engineer – I&T role will develop end-to-end tests and demos (from software interface to over-the-air RF) to validate new hardware/software/firmware, characterize system performance, and demonstrate product capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Key stakeholder in the requirement development process, proactively monitoring for integration issues between subsystems
- Ensure Design-for-Test best practices are implemented
- Lead Qualification and Acceptance Test Planning
- Lead the development of system tests, including the identification of required assets (hardware, software, and lab equipment) and personnel
- Lead integration and testing activities, including RF Chamber testing and Field testing
- Spearhead the characterization and resolution of integration / operational issues by working with subsystem design teams.
- Work with lab equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, function generators, VNAs, RF signal generators, DAQs, etc.) to fully characterize the hardware, including possibly writing software to automate measurements and data analysis
- Work side-by-side with test engineers and technicians to transfer knowledge of new test procedures and debug issues
- BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a similar field
- 8+ years industry experience (or 6 years with an MS degree), preferably with experience spanning the entire product lifecycle (Concept to Delivery)
- In-depth knowledge of Requirements and Verification Management tools, and Manufacturing Execution System tools
- Demonstrated ability to lead system integration and to own system requirement verification & selloff
- Proficiency in the usage of electrical lab equipment (oscilloscopes, VNAs, etc.)
- Experience working with RF systems (e.g., radar, comms, EW, etc.), preferably including phased arrays
- Familiarity with environmental requirements and verification (shock/vibe, humidity, temperature, sand/dust, etc.)
- Familiarity with scripting languages (preferably Python and/or Matlab)
- Good written and oral communication skills; not afraid to speak up, either to ask for help or disagree on a technical point that warrants more discussion
- Collaborative; capable of working across all levels of the organization
- Ability to anticipate and communicate blockers, delays, and cost ballooning within the project before they require escalation
- Eager to train team members and help them overcome obstacles, resolve blockers, and complete work tasks
- Organized, comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
- Focused on rapidly delivering customer value
