The Opportunity
The High Voltage Power Business Unit is seeking a Principal system engineer to join its fast-growing team. The principal system engineer serves as Business Unit’s technical expertise on isolated gate driver. The successful candidate is responsible for understanding customers’ system and applications, developing application tools, contributing to product roadmaps and joining product promotion with marketing and sales when needed. Having the ability to translate customers’ system need and integrate Allegro’s innovative gate drivers into customers design is crucial. This role provides a potential path to management position and will be based in Milan, Italy.
What You Will Do
Technical Leadership:
Serve as a recognized technical expert, providing in-depth system-level understanding to solve complex customer challenges.
Customer Support:
Provide direct technical support to customers and collaborate with marketing, sales, and Field Application Engineers (FAEs) to maintain strong customer relationships.
Product Innovation:
Influence and contribute to new product definition and roadmaps, translating customer needs into technical requirements.
Tool Development:
Create and apply sophisticated tools, models and reference designs that help customers integrate Allegro’s isolated gate driver into their designs.
Mentorship:
Guide and mentor junior engineers within the group, fostering their professional growth.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work with marketing, design, test and product validation team to drive product development, technical risk mitigation, system-level product validation and successful product launch.
Technical Documentation:
Generate technical collaterals, presentations, training materials, and trade show demonstrations to support products and customers.
What You Will Need
MSEE+ in Power Electronics
15+ years of working experience in system or application engineering
Extensive knowledge in Isolated Gate Drivers or High Voltage Power applications is mandatory
Deep understanding of power conversion topology, AC/DC and DCDC
Experience in PCB design and layout is highly preferred
Proficiency with simulation or design tools such as LTSPICE, PSPICE, Simplist, Altium
Strong experience in lab equipment with experience in debugging and testing circuits, performing thermal analysis, bench-level validation
Must work well in a team, fast-paced, high-energy, and result-driven environment.
Comfortable presenting technical contents in front of customers
~10% domestic travel and some international travel
English proficiency
