At Tarana Wireless, we have combined smart antenna technology, a suite of unique algorithm innovations, and expert implementation to create the industry's first truly technologically and economically viable solution to address the broadband digital divide worldwide at the right price point delivering wireless performance that closely competes with fiber. As a member of the Systems Engineering team, you participate in the design and development of our next generation Fixed Wireless Access platform. If you have experience in designing PHY and MAC layer algorithms and driving them all the way to implementation, you will fit right in.
We are looking for candidates with strong wireless communications skills willing to continuously learn, adapt, and collaborate with colleagues across different departments. Ideally, you are a candidate with strong technical expertise and an ability of turning innovative ideas into reality through design, simulation, specification, and implementation.
Job Responsibilities:
- Motivate and quantify the benefits of technical solutions that add considerable business value and meet our price and performance targets while partnering with product management and other stakeholders.
- Design and implement new algorithms in the field of wireless communications including multi-antenna processing and PHY protocols for network entry, link maintenance, feedback channels for automatic transmit power control and automatic modulation selection.
- Develop an accurate understanding of current product challenges together with the product teams, contribute to the solutions, and incorporate these challenges into future product designs.
- Conduct architectural and algorithmic trade-offs based on performance, complexity, and cost.
- Conduct and lead PHY layer performance analysis via comprehensive link and network level simulations using floating and fixed-point signal processing.
- Optimize implementation including interfaces and computational complexity together with software and hardware teams.
- Correlate simulation findings with current product performance.
- Consolidate and share your findings through presentations and detailed specification documentation, and be able to draw insightful conclusions.

What We Do
Tarana’s mission is to accelerate the deployment of fast, affordable internet access around the world. Through a decade of R&D and more than $400M of investment, the Tarana team has created a unique next-generation fixed wireless access (ngFWA) technology instantiated in its first commercial platform, Gigabit 1 (G1). It delivers a game-changing advance in broadband economics in both mainstream and underserved markets, using either licensed or unlicensed spectrum. G1 started production in mid-2021 and has since been embraced by more than 250 service providers in 19 countries and 41 US states.
Tarana is headquartered in Milpitas, California, with additional research and development in Pune, India. Visit our website for more on G1.
