Position Description:
Analyzes systems and business processes to define clear, actionable requirements that support effective technology solutions. Evaluates current-state capabilities, identifies gaps, and assesses solution options to improve system functionality and user outcomes. Translates business needs into structured requirements artifacts that enable efficient design, development, and validation of system changes. Maintains a strong understanding of system interactions, data flows, and business drivers to ensure solutions align with operational goals. Partners with stakeholders and technology teams to support the delivery of scalable, reliable solutions that enhance platform usability and performance.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Leads and conducts interviews with business users to gather requirements and analyzes technology needs and system and workflow challenges.
- Develops recommendations that address difficult and complex business needs and opportunities.
- Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex systems analysis projects and defines project scope.
- Leads other analysts in the execution of documents on large and complex projects and monitors the quality and progress of documents created by other analysts.
- Designs new systems based on requirements.
- Leads and participates in the definition of test strategies, and coordinates user acceptance testing efforts.
- Communicates progress of multiple projects to management, engages stakeholders on a regular basis, and manages expectations of internal and external stakeholders.
- Serves as industry subject matter expert and identifies other subject matter experts who are the sources of requirements for large and complex projects.
- Works with other teams to evolve standards and best practices for systems analysis processes.
- Participates in incident/crisis management to assess business impact, determine/facilitate any workarounds, in concert with the production support organization.
- Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies.
- Coaches and mentors junior product analysts and developers on systems analysis techniques and business workflows.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Systems Analyst (or closely related occupation) performing analysis of software or cloud-based applications using SQL and API or Webservices (REST or JSON and SOAP).
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Systems Analyst (or closely related occupation) performing analysis of software or cloud-based applications using SQL and API or Webservices (REST or JSON and SOAP).

- Demonstrated Expertise ( conducting interviews with business and technical stakeholders to understand their objectives, document requirements in the form of functional and system requirements, acceptance criteria, technical specifications, process maps/diagrams, wireframe mockups, and data schema; translating complex technical language and designs into business-friendly, universally understood concepts using Visio or Excel; and communicating with technical and business stakeholders to build, refine and prioritize product backlogs within Azure DevOps or Jira.
- Demonstrated Expertise developing queries within SQL server databases using SQL; participating in end-to-end functional and regression testing, using SQL and API or Webservices (REST or JSON); conducting User Acceptance testing by creating UAT documents and getting the User sign off from the end business users.
- Demonstrated Expertise converting business rules into functional requirements specifications that include data mapping, error handling, and creating system user access hierarchy; conducting comprehensive analysis of business requirements for API integrations by analyzing request and response payload of API services in JSON, XML formats.
- Demonstrated Expertise providing production and non-production technical support by triaging, resolving, and providing root cause analysis using SQL and analyzing API or Webservices payloads; determining issue scope, impact, and urgency by analyzing database level data and error messages; and prioritizing the backlog of defects and working with the Development team to get into production.
